I liked Starfox too, apart from the shooting bits. I used to throw balls at that baby dinosaur and just mooch about. ;o)

    Lovely music too.

I've said this before on here, but I really enjoyed Starfox Adventures. I think Razz is a fan too iirc.

    Yep.

If anything Viewtiful Joe is the most overrated title listed there.

Definitely. Sure it was stylish but what else was there to it? The entire premise was a novelty and it was below par and totally imbalanced in contrast to all the side scrolling fighters of yore. I believe people only credited it so highly because they wanted to think it would be the revival of a once great genre. And because it's flashy and niche.

Balance in the side scrolling fighters of yore? Really?

I agree VJ's not all that, though I still reckon it's a game worth experiencing. Even if I'm rubbish at it. File in the same box as PN03 and God Hand.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Well, just disregard the in contrast bit for my lack of balance comment. I'm not even talking about just the difficulty, the whole thing's in disequilibrium. God Hand is pretty bad too. Haven't played PN03 so no comment there.

Now I want to dust of my GC for a quick game. If memory serves I've Double Dash, Soul Calibur 2 (the best version ot the three in my opinion), Metroid Prime and a few others.

The cube comes out of retirement for a gaming marathon tonight,

    The plan is

    RE4 with full cheats.

Tales of Symphonia (can't remember if I finished this)

A little Mario Kart maybe some Viewtiful Joe

Before Zelda the Wind Waker, which I am ashamed to say I have owned for ages but played only a total of around 35 minutes!
  • Deleted user 23 January 2010 17:14:03
Toss up between Wind Waker and ToS there. Toss the others in the bin.

What with getting a Wii, I figured I'd start tapping the Gamecube back catalogue as well. Wii is my first Nintendo console, so there's quite a bit of stuff I've never even heard of. Recently got my Wavebird, memory card and a copy of Fire Emblem: PoR. Now, I would feel a bit silly if I spent all that money on nothing but good old FE. =)

Any tips for what I should be looking into? I've got a short list of prospects, courtesy of EG's old reviews. Looking at Eternal Darkness (looks ace!) and Wind Waker spec edt (with OOT and that master quest thing). Anything else I should look into that doesn't have an equivalent on the Wii or 360? Baten Kaitos might be something for me, and also maybe Tales of Symphonia. Not sure though, as I'm not a huge fan of the standard fare JRPG melodramatic stories and enjoy Fire Emblem, Shining Force etc merely for the battles.

Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door looks interesting, but I'm getting Super Paper Mario on the Wii - and am on a gaming time budget, so getting both isn't really an option. I know they're very different, but don't they scratch the same itch sort of?

And yeah, sorry about the wall of text. =(

I'd recommend Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, if you haven't played it already.

Also, if you want to try something quite different from the usual: Odama.

Okay, thinking of connecting my GC up and keeping it in a closed drawer.

Any house burning down horror stories?

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Are you embarrassed by it? Probably safer if you just close the curtains? Paint it white and tell people it's a prototype Wii U.

no need to be ashamed of your gamecube. Its not like its a wii if you had a wii then there really would be a reason to be embarrassed.

don't worry about reliability for gamecubes. they are built to last. im sure mine will still work in 20 years time when people are playing the playstation 7.

Wii, gamecube, is there a difference given that the internals of a wii are the almost the same as a gamecube, it takes gamecube controllers and.memory cards and it even plays gamecube games?

It even has the definitive version of some gamecube games, thanks be to the gods for metroid prime trilogy.

Apologies for rogue full stops, mobile keyboards suck :)

It has all them holes on the sides for a reason. I don't think it would last that long shut in a drawer.
