You forgot You Only Live Twice and Thunderball.

    Yes, you did.

    Should i bother?

100% yes. Especially if you have low expectations, I went into it after it was reviewed poorly and really enjoyed it.

The most important factor is it made me want to watch the next one and keeps me excited about the series.

This. Both are way better than Dr No imho.

Dr No is actually a bit lame, especially the final act. Once you've seen the 'underneath the mango tree' bit you might as well turn off.

I don't think my bellend would be making jokes after that torture scene!

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

Which ones are they? Can't remember those, possibly because they only seem to show the Rogered movies on the box.

They all have less action and more character scenes than Casino Royale, I don't see the issue you have.

You Only Live Twice is the one with the awesome fake death scene at the beginning. Great music as well.

    Good shout!

I was going to big up Goldfinger too. I have a soft spot for Moonraker as well, but it's a truly, truly awful film. Great optical effects work though.

@Horizon - it's not a bad action film. Took me a year to work myself up to seeing it as my mates didn't rate it at all. Turns out it's actually not bad. Just not as good as it should've been.

Moonraker really is an awful post Star Wars cash in. It's probably the most removed film from the original book

The only 2 weak ones are Octopussy and Die Another Day, though both have their moments and are still entertaining in ways.

The Man with the Golden Gun, though, is quite clearly the best. For me, and its of course personal, its just what I expect a Bond film to be. The only thing it lacks is a ski chase.

    Moonraker ruined Jaws :(

I think it's fairly accurate to say that From Russia With Love is up there in the list of the Best Bond Films. I agree with kalel though, Dr. No really wasn't all that good.

It was so blatant a cash-in, yeah. Explicitly so, in that the previous Bond film ended with 'James Bond will return in For Your Eyes Only', which then came out after Moonraker.

I don't have an issue. I like all the Broccoli films. Everything else is meh and Daniel Craig is rubbish. In my opinion of course. Like everyone else's in this thread it doesn't really matter what we think. Bond films used to make me almost hard with anticipation when I was growing up. Now they don't. Probably more to do with my flaccid member than anything else.

    /nods sagely

From this I garner that jonsaan's opinion needs some work and that he's likely to do a Ricky Martin. Suggestions?

I read the book after I saw the film (and then went on to read most of the other books) and was very suprised that the torture scene was there - seatless chair and all. I'd assumed it had been made up recently but it's true to the book.

In fact Casino Royale is by far the closest film to the book as far as I can tell. It's quite incredible how different most of the books are to the films. They don't even go into space in Moonraker!

I read Moonraker once upon a time and have completely forgotten what happened.

I agree with whoever said that Craig needs a proper villain for the next film. Le Chiffre was pretty cool, but he wasn't seen off properly. Green was wetter than a Takeshi's Castle contestant.

Takeshi's Castle should be the name and setting of the next film, with Craig Charles as the villain.

It's sort of similarish but it's a nuclear missile Drax is building, and his plan is to blow up London. There's really nothing about space in the book whatsoever.

The thing that strikes you about the books is how simple they are, especially the early ones. There's not a lot to them and they're over before you know it. I devoured pretty much all of them in about 6 months. They're great though, got a lovely tone to them.

After hearing almost nothing but good things about CS I was incredibly disappointed when I finally watched it last year. After starting quite promisingly, the second half was a bit of a mess. The pacing was awful, it dragged like hell and became incredibly convoluted in the process.

QoS was utterly awful. Not only was it completely mediocre as an action film, but it was crushingly disappointing after the amazing Casino Royale. I felt robbed after leaving the cinema. I really, really hope that despite it being a financial success, the creators realise how bad it was.

CR is the best. But the one with volcano Blofeld and Bond being rubbed by about 300 sexy geishas is also the best.
