    @DUFFMAN5

    Mornin' Duff!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people who expect a reformed band to be releasing albums that are carbon copies of their glory days and I applaud them for sticking out a new album of material (and lordy knows I'd love to go see them play in September, but I'll be busy at least that evening at midnight, for they're playing here on the 16th ;)).

It sounds like them for sure, I just feel the songs aren't up to scratch (and that's coming from a big fan of 'Down On The Upside'). I guess I'll give the album a break and come back to it in a few weeks.

Actually Duff, if you're a fan of Cornell's vocals, have you ever heard Richie Cotzen? He's currently fronting Mike Portnoy's new band (The Winery Dogs) and he's got a similar set of pipes to ol' Chris! :D

I just picked up tickets for one of the brixton gigs this week from ticketweb. Some extra must have gone on resale

Looks like there are still more tickets available. 43 a ticket is a lot but they could split up for 15 years again and Brixton Academy is probably my favourite place to see rock/metal bands so I had to do it

Saw a young lad in a Soundgarden t-shirt a couple of days back. Made me feel old to think that when I saw them play in Nottingham in '94 he wouldn't even have been born :-)

Belter of a gig that one.

    Holy shit.

In a vaguely related story, I recall the first Nirvana album I ever bought (In Utero) was in 1998. Someone said to me "you're kinda late to the party, Cobain is dead 4 years already". He's dead 20 years this weekend, yikes.

Just watched the Pinkpop festival performance from 92 via Youtube. Not seen in a long while, fuck they sounded (sound) great.
I'm sure I have heard/read them say we might get a new album in 2015, bring it.

If it's possible I love CC even more...it is not possible the man is a GOD. :)

Edit, did anyone buy the latest solo album, very much a companion to EM. Mellow like much of his solo output.

    New Soundgarden next year ?

Yeah I've really taken to his new album, very mellow and not as "deep" as EM, but some great songs on there. He said himself one of the main thoughts behind the album was to support his solo tours, and you can tell that. Very happy, I wasn't sure what to expect after Carry On and Scream but getting SG back together seems to have sorted him out ;)

Talking of EM, I thought the recent reissue was a colossal missed opportunity to release some bonus demos / b-sides / live tracks. It's one of my all time favourite albums, I'd love to hear extra material from that era :( You take it for granted these days on reissues, I can't believe it's just the remastered album... sure it's been compressed to shit as well.

I was really hoping for a TOTD 25th anniversary release this year, but I think the legal dispute around the master taes scuppered that :/ Hopefully they can sort that mess out.

I'm hoping for a bumper year of Soundgarden / Cornell solo / Pearl Jam / Vedder solo shows in the UK next year, like 2012 :)

We have a bloke who joined recently called Chris Cornell, which inspired me to go back to Superunknown etc. Unbelievable stuff.

Will have to check out his solo output.

Superunknown is absolute perfection from start to finish. Deep down I feel it's greatest album of all time when viewed from a purely artistic sense, but I try not to say that in public ;)

When you get on to his solo stuff, Euphoria Mo(u)rning might not grab you at first, but you need to give it a chance. It's a grower, and you need to be in the right mood. I'd skip Carry On and Scream, but his new album is definitely worth it.

Ordered a couple of his solo albums just now. I'm on a big cd splurge just now so thought 'why not?'.

You folks had better be right about his new one and this EM thing being good!

Yeah Euphoria Morning (Noticed the re-issue is now called Mourning as per originally planned) is a great album. Really good. When I'm down is just fucking amazing. It is also out on vinyl. Yelp.

His other solo albums are a bit and miss. Some good songs here and there though.

I had a really good version of mission back in the days when we used to download music off kazaa and Morpheus etc. It was much heavier - imo lots better than the one on the album.

And a song I think called seasons. Need to find these songs!

Not yet Duff, but I do have an irrational dislike for Stevie Nicks' voice, so avoid yer Fleetwood Mac recommendations!

Mission 2000 from the MI:2 soundtrack I imagine, for Seasons try and track down what's called the Poncier demo session... fantastic acoustic Flutter Girl on that as well.

Also recommend people track down the Denver 2000 live bootleg, he had it recorded professionally but decided not to release it officially.

    Nice one :)
I'm listening to Revelations a lot at the moment. I love the funky drive to most of the songs and Moth is sublime of course.

Agree, I think it's an excellent album and got / gets slated unfairly, such a shame they didn't tour it before they split. Prefer it to Out of Exile, though you can't beat self-titled :) I remember when the first set of Audioslave demos were leaked online by some studio engineer in May 2002 after many months of rumours... mind absolutely blown. Went to their first UK gig in Jan 2003 at the old London Astoria, they were so fucking great live, they opened with Light My Way and I can still hear Morello's high-pitched guitar intro in the pitch black, the crowd went nuts. Did you get to see them live?

I caught them live in 2005 at Brixton. They were great. must have been the out of exile tour. Think they opened with man or animal. Remember the worm being particularly awesome.

I also seen Chris touring carry on ( flew from Bristol to Glasgow) and managed to see him at London pallidum touring songbook which was one of the best gigs I've been too. Really special.

As for revelations, I hated it at first , but over the years I have really grown to like it. Might listen to it tomorrow now : )
