Galaxy On Fire 2 HD is free on Google Play:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.fishlabs.gof2hdallandroid2012

I've just demanded the 6 back from SamsungApps that I paid for it, back in January, because the bloody stupid SamsungApps app has never allowed me to install it. Has always informed me that I've insufficient memory to download it, yet Google Play has just downloaded it with absolutely no trouble at all.

    Started using My SMS:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mysms.android.sms

So far so good. Plus it uses Evernote to backup your SMS.

Using a custom ROM for the Xperia Z and the battery life so far has been fantastic:

Will give it a thorough workout tomorrow.[/link]

Not a fan of Dropchord, I think it's probably best using the leap motion thing.

    Rymdkapsel is lovely and brilliant.

Bounty Hunter: Black Dawn is currently free if you'd like to try a Borderlands clone on your Android device. I'm kinda enjoying it.

Really loving the new Google Play Music subscription service. Much prefer it to Spotify.
  • Deleted user 30 August 2013 21:54:11

I have used the app for ages to store music for free. Is it now going to start charging?

No they're charging for streaming everything, not for your own library.

I like Google Music, I just don't like the player, it's not loud enough and the equaliser is shite.

Anyone else having a play with Aviate? Worth a look, I guess a launcher that organises your apps/home screen but also adapts/changes to your location, bit like Google Now.

You need to apply for a code as its still in alpha, etc.

Sounds interesting. Do you have it? Some first thoughts on it?

I haven't bothered with a custom launcher since I had to buy a new Nexus 4. (the first one ended up in a garden pond) I mostly used mine for visual fiddlery and I can't be bothered to do it again.

Will this eat battery like a Mofo?

@Tonka - it's very clean, does a reasonable job of grouping your apps - swipe right and it gives you your main groups such as social, work, fitness, etc you can add/delete more groups - swipe again to the right and you find all your apps alphabetically sorted, very clean and easy, from there you can add apps to groups etc.

Home screen shows your most used apps, plus a large(ish) picture (stock within the app, you can change this) that changes colour throughout the day reflecting the time of day, nice. The top bar of your home screen you can alter depending on what's most important to you, or what you are doing, eg. weather, work, local, travel - swipe left to access these options - tapping the top bar then opens the relevant app choices.

Have a play, not perfect yet eg. the standard weather app only shows current location, you can't add others, etc.

But it is very tidy, adapts to your surroundings (like G. now), and light, no noticeable system/battery hog issues.

    Hope this helps.

Also, if you love your weather apps, Yahoo weather has been redesigned and it now looks bloody gorgeous! Really :)

I agree, the Yahoo Weather app is lovely. It's replaced my previous weather app/widget on my phone homepage.

@eleven63 cheers. Sounds interesting. Might give it a go. But mine would just be full of shortcuts to EG.

For those of you that find mycolorscreen.com impressive but are too lazy to mess about with customisation (I'm in this group) I present:

    Themer (by MyColorScreen)
    Very nice idea.

Am I being blind or is there actually no way to see Top Free Games on Play Store through a web browser?

I can see a category for it here (a little bit down the page), followed by 6 games in that category, but as soon as I click See More it just goes to Top Free of all categories.

Is that some URL sorcery, or did you find it through the website interface?

    Edit: And thanks.
