Registered 7 years agoI was about to say Shadowgun, then I realised that might not be ideal on all phones
Gotta love my physical buttons. Looks fantastic though, and as I understand it even better on a Tegra 2, should you want to see some impressive visuals. The difficulty is well tuned to virtual sticks too.
That Critter Rollers I mentioned a few posts back is really good though. Maybe not all that deep but there's a free version so it's worth a look. Pretty challenging later on too. I'm afraid every other game I've got would use virtual sticks on a Galaxy Tab, or has been metnioned already.
If I had to choose 1 though, I'd go for Mr Brett's suggestion of Carcassonne. That game is awesome and so very, very addictive, with as much depth as you'd ever want.

Registered 11 years agoThanks to a fellow EG-er, I have finally entered the world of 'Android gaming' (ahem) via a Sony Xperia Play.
So far I've only purchased Another World, and downloaded a few emulators - but so far so good!
I'm rather tempted by NBA Jam from the Play store - can anyone recommend it? I used to love the old Mega Drive version (and the PS1 version wasn't too bad, either). -

Unfortunately there aren't that many complex games on mobile, since the input method is too simple for any traditional games (as you know since you've encountered the abortion that is virtual sticks) only simple limited input games really work on the simple limited input devices.
Tried all of the above, didn't like any of them
That said, tried Anomaly Warzone? Please don't use the delete button, think of the children.

Registered 6 years ago@rodpad If they're compatible with the Galaxy Tab you could try Avernum or Avadon, they're very deep and very big RPG's vaguely in the style of Baldur's Gate. I haven't actually played them on android (as they're tablet only), so can't say for sure how well they'll control, but they're brilliant on PC. -

Registered 2 years agoNetwork spoofer by digitalsquid. It hijacks all traffic going through the router your phones connected to and lets you screw about with the web pages being served to other computers on the same network. Great fun flipping pictures, altering text and redirecting Google searches.
I used it in a coffee shop the other day and watched in amusement at all the confused faces wondering why all the pics on the sites they visited were upside down.
It needs a rooted phone and hammers the battery, its on the play store somewhere.
