    Alternate walkthrough

I really don't like the "+10", "+15" thing that pops up when you kill an enemy, completely unnecessary. Otherwise it's looking good though.

I think that looks excellent, and the points don't bother me at all.

Hopefully there's a way to turn the points off.

Looks so good. I assume there is some kind of levelling mechanic, the points don't really bother me.

I think I remember seeing a play-through that didn't have the points on screen, so I'm guessing you be able to turn them off.

Looks great, loved FC2 even with its flaws this looks better.

I used to be a gamer like you, then I took an arrow in the knee.

New trailer, it's called "Stranded". All CG. This could work and there could be a good game to come from this, if they can keep the player character human enough.

It's a far cry from Far Cry, that's for sure.

    Hehehehe

This is looking and sounding amazing. Info, footage and interview below.

    Linky

That video is pretty much describing my perfect shooter. It can't be as good as I'm imagining, can it?... fuck me I hope so.

Looks like there's gonna be a lot exploration and a real sense of mystery about the island, ace. The gun play and combat looks better than FC2, ace. Also looks like it's going to have a stronger narrative the FC2, ace. Did I say ace?

That footage is very impressive! :D
@cianchristopher: After seeing that...that is Far Cry!
I love the sense of where they're going with this.

Intro is great. I miss those CGI movies.

FC1 was decent. FC2 sucked cos of the respawning. But I do have hopes for this.

Their CGI is amazing. Sounding like it should be a lot of fun.

As long as we get enemy-free areas to just enjoy the scenery and explore it should be great.

FC2 deserves more attention than it gets. Stupid design didn't outweigh the idiosyncracies it offered. A shame that, when people moan about genero-brown shooters, they get put off by an avoidable annoyance in FC2.

    FC3 better be top notch!

I tried to like FC2. Really did, but those spawning enemies and the moronic AI ruined it. You can get away with that in a confined space, but not in open areas.

Still, I hope they've learned from that in this one.

Fired up FC2 for the first time in two years according to my save, I'd re-bought it cheap in the recent Steam sale and thought I'd give it a go after watching the FC3 trailer. Christ on a bike it looks lovely at 1080P on ultra. I've upgraded a couple of things since I last played it and it looks better than most new games.

I reckon they have - I remember an article saying they knew the checkpoints were annoying.

Vid looks good. I just hope the sense of oppression is kept, and not lost in an attempt to design too much in, rather than letting it flow. As it were.

It was beautiful. I remember thinking it was the best looking game I had seen on the Box when I first played it.

It was beautiful, aye. I think I'd prefer a non island setting, tbh. The savannah and jungle were great.

Looking excellent. If Halo 4 turns out shite then at least this looks to scratch the shooter itch come the end of the year.

OFP and Mirror's Edge showed me how much more fun being hunted, rather than just blasting an enemy is. The "Escape from the Island" mission in OFP is still one of my favourite levels of all time. It would be nice to see a bit of that.

Aye - being hounded would be good.

The bit in the Vid where they talked about the protagonist being a normal guy, and then taking two guys out with a knife was horribly incongruous. It'd be nice if they really pushed the desperation of the situation - I.e you're in the shit cos you don't even know how to hold the gun, at first at least.

Some people complained about the feel of gun control in ME. I thought it was perfect. It felt like you didn't really know what you were doing with it, but if push came to shove you could defend yourself to a certain extent.

FC2 managed to keep you feeling powerful and yet still in danger, which was also good.

I hope the weapon malfunctions are back, I rather enjoyed this happening tonight even if it wasn't great timing.

The last time I played FC2 was on a 360, but today I gave the PC version an ultra run to give it another look. Lovely visuals, smooth-as-butter play. :) In case the mood takes anyone, I noticed that Get Games is offering the double pack of digital Far Crys for a fiver.

IGN has a preview video with gameplay footage, from the looks of it the 360 version given the button prompts, although it could just as well be PC with a 360 controller of course.

Obviously the hero in this is based on me because he's got my first name, thank you Ubisoft for recognising how super-awesome I am.
