Has it got a caged animal you can use to take one of them out?

Not this one, really annoying. I might to leave it and come back to it later when I've upgraded my grenade pouch and have bought the launcher.

Sneak around and pop 'em in the back of the head with a sniper or magnum!

Oh is that their weak spot? I knew there must be a trick to it, but I couldn't figure it out

If you're not playing this with Ziggy's mod you're doing it wrong!

The signature weapon The Bull shotgun helps against the heavies close range, if you haven't got Heavy Takedown.  Its good against  big predators like bear and tiger too.

Also, noticed that we were talking about Skyrim and Far Cry. If I were to get a game on a brand new PC, should it be Skyrim, or Far Cry 3? Played both on PS3, loved both but want to play it how they were meant to be played (Skyrim was a mess, and far cry had ugly ugly screen tear).
Also has to be heavily moddable.

Erm, skyrim is an RPG, and far cry 3 is an FPS. Both are moddable, skyrim probably moreso. I personally would go skyrim if you've played both before, but it's really down to personal preference.

I played it modded right up until the mission where you had the canned sniper sequence of you having to protect one of your friends. But with the mod, I couldn't zoom in or out. After much failure, I gave up and played something else.

The mod was great otherwise, though.

Thanks, I'll go with Skyrim, then.

Just started playing this. It's brilliant and has rekindled my love of games after a period of apathy. I just startled a black puma and in panic it ran straight off a cliff.

    @Rodney
    ;)
I have a lot of love for this game, I even enjoyed the online maps, which I know were not a big hit. It was a pain that you could not choose the map mind you.
You are playing this just in time before the (probably) even better FC4

p.s. Have you played Blood Dragon, brilliant fun and extra credit if you were a child of the eighties, like what I was ;)

"Duffman the grey is thrusting in the direction of the problem! Oh, yeah!"

Yeah, I already played Blood Dragon but enjoyed it more for the 80's theme and humour. It misses all the emergent gameplay from Far Cry 3. I tried escaping some pirates last night by jumping in the ocean and got eaten by a shark. So many genuine laugh out loud moments.

You can tell Far Cry 3 is straining the 360 hardware so I'm excited about the prospect of Far Cry 4 on Xbox One.

I started this last night, the cringeworthy clips and characters wasn't a good start, I didn't even finish the tutorial mission as it was boring.
    Will try again tonight :-(

If you can't sit through 15 minutes of shit story and tutorial you're not going to make it to the end of this, sad to say. Story is easily the worst part of the game - emergent shark murder wallet construction while taking outposts down is where the fun is at...

...but the price of admission is sitting through story missions every couple of hours that 70% of the time are wrought from satan's own arse-crack.

Bugger, how long do you have to play to enjoy some of the fun stuff?

Not that long. Not trying to be a dick, but would you give up on a book or a film after 20 minutes? As Phattso says, the douche-bag characters in the story are the worst part, but when the game opens up it's fantastic.

The game is basically excellent. Just make peace with characters you want to punch and a somewhat lacking story (yes 70% of which is shit - but the remaining 30% is actually quite entertaining) and you'll start to like it.

You just need to progress the story enough to open up areas and abilities and then you're set. I mostly made my own fun, throwing in the odd story mission here and there to mix things up. Spent a ridiculous amount of time in this game on 360 and PC.

I persevered a bit longer, did the first few tutorial missions, now I'm going to try and get Lisa.
The Save system is proving to be utter shit, you can't save in a mission and if you quit, it doesn't restart at a checkpoint, you have to do the mission from scratch.
    That's wank.

Preserving with Far Cry 3 is the key I felt the same 1st time around but preserved and enjoyed it all over again recently.

Yep, I have a massive jar of vinegar ready, just to squeeze myself in there.

I made a squinty, laughy face at this, GG.

FC3 is a fantastic game, but with some of the most dislikable characters in gaming (something Ubi seem to specilise in; I wanted to punch Aiden in Watch Dogs so badly). Get past that and it is excellent.
