I have 4 PS3 games with Platinum trophies, and I've got none of them. Wipeout HD's one requires a level of skill I don't have, and I think I could get Uncharted 2's platinum trophy but I'd hate the game by the time I beat it on Crushing.

That guy must suck, I have 12 etc.

There's a guy on my friends list who has seventeen. Some of them are easy, but some are Mirror's Edge.

I've got a few games that I'd like to platinum at the moment but I've a habit of getting distracted by new games coming out. At the moment I've only gotten three (Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, WWE Legends of Wrestlemania and Resident Evil 5.) I've also three or less to get in Resistance 2 and Batman Arkham Asylum while also looking to platinum Assassin's Creed II (44%), Bioshock (55%), Borderlands (24%), InFamous (67%), Killzone 2 (51%), Modern Warfare 2 (47%), Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time (8%), Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (65%), Unreal Tournament III (17%) and Warhawk (64%).

lol, I didn't realise there were that many on my to do list. Got the entire Chrstmas period to work on some of them though.

I have 7 and working to get 2 more. Sadly, trophies have changed the way I play games. I never, ever used to replay them, instead prefering to move on to the next one. Now I replay games all the time: uncharted 5 times, dead space 3 times, murror's edge 2 times, etc. I buy the same amount of games but play less, which means the backlog is even bigger. Also, I only buy the games I think I can get all the trophies in, which is completely insane.

    Also, I've n

    Bloody iPhone :-(

Was meaning to say I've noticed it's easier to get a high level by playing many games and getting lots of low-level trophies than aiming for the plat. Which means what I'm doing really is poinless.

    Anyway...

ok to motivate me and put some pressure on myself, these are the Platinum Trophies I want to achieve until..............the end of my life:

    Tekken 6
    COD MW2
    Uncharted 2
    Uncharted 1
PES2010 (but I can't play online, so its not possible

and with some luck and some PSN friends this one would be great:
    LBP

and if I should fail just for the heck of it I might then purchase:
Terminator (but I can't be fucking serious)
Sega collection (also totally a stupid idea)

    Actually they are.

    1 Silver = 3 Bronze

    1 Gold = 2 Silver = 6 Bronze

    1 Platinum = 2 Gold = 4 Silver = 12 Bronze

Or, for the sake of working out your levels:

    Trophy Point Value
    Bronze - 15
    Silver - 30
    Gold - 90
    Platinum - 180

    Level Point Requirements
    Level 1 - 0
    Level 2 - 210
    Level 3 - 600
    Level 4 - 1,200
    Level 5 - 2,400
    Level 6 - 4,000
    Level 7 - 6,000
    Level 8 - 8,000
    Level 9 - 10,000
    Level 10 - 12,000
    Level 11 - 14,000
    Level 12 - 16,000
    Level 13 - 24,000
    Level 14 - 32,000
    Level 15 - 40,000
    Level 16 - 48,000
    Level 17 - 56,000
    Level 18 - 64,000

I don't bother with trophies or achievements. At least with Xbox Live I can put them on private which is almost as good as turning them off entirely.

For instance, The Ballad of Gay Tony has an achievement for getting 100% on all of the missions. This means you will end up playing some missions over and over again.

Why would you do that ? Where is the fun in endlessly replaying the same part of the game just to be "perfect" ?

If I was somebody important at EA or Activision I would release a game with a one-off code in the box. Entering that code would get you 1,000 points or a Platinum trophy. That game would make Modern Warfare 2 look like a flop.

For willy-waving your high score, same reason anyone ever played a coin-op game more than once.

I disagree. I see guys who are level 12 with 1-2 plats and maybe 500 trophies in total, most bronze. I have less than 400 trophies and am level 8.

I'm sure it's a lot more efficient starting many games and playing them through once than replaying the same game over and over to get the remaining 5 trophies, which can constitute 40%.

The last plat I got was Tomb Raider Underworld. I played the game again from start to finish on the highest difficulty and at the end got two trophies for my trouble: a gold and the plat. My progress towards level 9 moved from maybe 27% to 53%. Pretty small progress for the amount of time I put in.

I love the PS3 trophy system, I was never inspired to get 100% in Xbox games but I love going for Platinums. I get more out of all my games now.

Just depends on how you look at it. If you're after trophies to increase your score and 'show off' then yeah the PS3 trophy system is harder on you than Xbox achievements since plats and golds give more.

However, if you just enjoy collecting platinums and trying to unlock everything in a game then they're great and you end up getting more out of each game you buy.

I've only got 2 so far : EOJ and Infamous.
    Going for :
    Tiger Woods 2010
    Uncharted 2
    Demon's Souls
    Trine
    MW2

I'm level 8 with about 260 trophies. I have a level 7 on my friends list with over 350 trophies.

I don't really pay attention to my trophy level as much as my trophy quantity to be honest. One of my mates is slightly ahead of me level-wise but has far fewer trophies than me. Then I compared our lists and found that he plays games with a higher quantity of silvers/golds while the games I like seem to throw bronzes around like they're going out of fashion.

If your level matters to you then sports games seem to be the ones to offer the better proportion of high end trophies I find.

Doesn't work like that mate, all games have the same total value of trophies. ie: getting to platinum in any game will do the exact same thing to your level.

re- TrashPanic, I agree! I have 0 trophies for that game, it's bloody impossible.

Which is all a bit sad, quite frankly. It's very disappointing to see fun reduced to a number again. I thought we'd gotten past that.

I've got two, Fallout 3 and Mirror's Edge, getting close on 3 or 4 others too :)

Trophies have been great for me, I'm always getting 3/4 through a game and not finishing it. Striving for platinum means I get to experience parts I'd normally skip.

A good web site is http://www.ps3trophies.co.uk/ , they even have a rudimentary "difficulty rating" for most games.

    @Gregolution

I know that all games are worth the same but games with bronze trophies will have more trophies overall than games with a majority of silvers and as a result 5 silvers will always top 5 bronzes.

    @DUFFMAN5

I don't know if it actually works (it has for me but might be coincidence) but if you're on the dashboard and try to sync your trophies and keep pressing the PS button and 'x' really quickly it syncs. Might take a few tries but it's worked twice for me.
