Harsh scoreline but the Italiens wasted a lot of good chances, when they went down to 10 men they didn't have a hope. Glad Torres got the golden boot even though he played probably less then half of the time.

Here's the top 5 from the league. Identify yourselves (well, apart from me)!

    3. Montrose Galacticos (Lewis Dutch, 284)
    4. Finesse (Christopher Moore, 278)
    5. Beef Curtains (Daniel Astin, 277)

I had Alba as mine throughout the knock-out stages. Absolute goldmine. 28 points tonight.

Yeah the little assistant thing recommended Alba for mine tonight but I ignored him even though there was a chance Torres wouldn't play. Funny scoring system that, had Iniesta in from the start but he didn't get many points despite being one of the better players.

Had a quick search for the Terry thing, couldn't find it but came across the Daily Mails team of the tournament

The England defence were all flinging themselves about from kick-off. Despite it all being very "THREE LIONS ON THE SHIRT", I'm not sure defending like you're in the Alamo for all of your games is necessarily great play.

So yeah, we were soundly beaten there...
Hats off to Spain, they showed us how it's done...The first two goals were quite marvelous and they even had a penalty coming that wasn't given...

I'd still like to know why he put in Chiellini in the first place, surely they knew he wouldn't last long?...
And when he pulled Montolivo for Thiago Motta all hope was lost...In the whole championship Motta didn't do shit and Montolivo gave it his all...He was basically the only one who managed to interrupt the passes Spain was making...

One man down didn't make things easier but I have no illusions that they'd have beaten us anyway...

Tough luck guys, I'll be here in 2 years to cheer you on again...

Good tournament, the least cheaty/divey/craply refereed one in a while, but I think I enjoyed the group stages more than the knockouts. Only the final and the Italy Germany game stood out in the knockouts for me, and both of those were largely one sided. Spain were awesome last night though, they've bored me at times, but they kept on attacking and saved their best game for the final really.

@AcidSnake I think he should have put Giovinco on for Montolivo, but as you say the final outcome looked a formality. You don't beat Spain from 2-0 nowadays.

I haven't seen Giovinco in action much so couldn't say, but Diamanti always gave a lot of speed to the attacks...

We'll see more of them in 2 years I bet...Hope we find another good goalkeeper though and someone to replace Pirlo as they're sure to be too old next time...

Here's the 23-man team of the tournament according to UEFA:

Steven Gerrard is the only English player in the 23-man squad of Euro 2012 named by UEFA, which features 10 of the Spanish team.

Goalkeepers: Buffon (Ita), Casillas (Spa), Neuer (Ger).

Defenders: Pique (Spa), Coentrao (Por), Lahm (Ger), Pepe (Por), Ramos (Spa), Alba (Spa).

Midfielders: De Rossi (Ita), Gerrard (Eng), Xavi (Spa), Iniesta (Spa), Khedira (Ger), Busquets (Spa), Ozil (Ger), Pirlo (Ita), Xabi Alonso (Spa).

Forwards: Balotelli (Ita), Fabregas (Spa), Ronaldo (Por), Ibrahimovic (Swe), Silva (Spa).

Iniesta was also named player of the tournament.

Quite funny that the Golden Boot winner didn't make it into the team of the tournament.
