Seems like there will be no way to counter these hacks due to the lack of dedicated servers and admin functions.

So this just went straight off my purchase list, too bad!

Didn't really need its own thread did it? But yes, it's annoying these idiots have to do this. Hopefully VAC will do a decent job of banning them, when it gets around to it in a few weeks anyway.

That's what i thought. If they've modded the core app files then VAC will ban them in a few weeks but if they modded the content files then they're fine or used to be anyway. VAC only watches for exe & dll mods as far as i knew.

The glorious scheme is unveiled! This is why steam only unlocks MW2 on friday - to catch all the nasty hackers who are playing right now!

Seriously, what's the deal with this "everything has to go in one thread" fascism on this forum? If it's good enough for a news article on Gear Crunch, it should be good enough for its own forum thread.

Apart from the fact that EG post a dedicated news item for any tiny tidbit of new MW2 info themselves.

Up next, threads about a simulated Fight Night Round 4 fight, a Disney Princess webcam mirror, and earphones shaped like pigs.

Actually what you're doing there is comparing two shit websites desperate for ad hits with this (potentially) excellent forum, supposedly based around organized discussion.

Go to gamefaqs for a while to find out why we're so uptight about everything going in its appropriate thread.

So this should have gone into the "Organize Online Games" thread or what? I am also a user of this forum and I find it totally unpractical to constantly follow one single 100-page thread for a given game just to skim for eventual info that I find interesting. Give me separate threads on separate topics any day.

I find it a lot more impractical to have 10 threads about the same game with people saying almost the same things in every thread.

Wow, I have a been a daily EG reader for probably six years, but the arrogance and elitism of some people here still blows my mind. So you own this forum then?

Yes, also not practical. I am sure there is a reasonable middle ground here though.

Consider it a public service announcement.

If it helps any, I am genuinely sorry for being impolite (and no, I don't expect you to believe that, but still), but if you have been a daily reader of the forum for six years, you'd understand why people react how they do at times.

A thread for PC specific issues is probably a good idea. These two reviews from Australian and New Zealand websites give some good details about the problems with multiplayer on the PC version:

FWIW, I would have posted into the "Official MW 2 PC Thread" if anything by that name would have been around already. Maybe start one now before the forum gets messy.

I don't think anyone has been unreasonable..

If there's no PC thread, that may be a good idea.

LOL. Why bother with a PC thread? IW didnt bother with a PC game.

I'll happily own up to this if you can point me in the direction of some examples.

It's in general gaming because it's not a PC game. In the same way that there aren't separate 360 and PS3 threads. If you want a separate PC matchmaking thread, that's generally considered fine but even then some people get uppity.

To be honest I don't follow this game and I wouldn't wade into a 300 page thread about it but I clicked this topic as I find it intriguing it's been out 1 or 2 days and it's hacked.

Not sure what the 1 thread OCD is for.

Ditto. And it's a wee bit ironic to complain about multiple threads on the same subject all talking about the same thing when the only common thread between them is people moaning about the horror they have had to endure from seeing more than one thread per subject appear on the forum.

Actually your arrogance that an entire forum should change to suit you should blow your mind. There are plenty of forums that welcome multiple threads about any inane detail of anything; this is not one of them.

It may seem like an overreaction that some members get a bit sensitive over multiple threads on a similar subject, but it's that kind of response that keeps this forum so well kept.

So why is the thread on taking it back OK but this one bad? This one is a tad more newsworthy then, er, the policy of any retailer for the last 20 years.

Because that is applicable to any game. Him not knowing how to trade in is like every single one of blizeH's help requests: everyone else on the planet knows except them.

It's like charity. Giving a little bit of ourselves to help someone less fortunate.
