Kick Ass entirely lives up to it's title. It's bloody (in both senses of the word) fantastic. The cast are superb across the board but the film is stolen by Chloe Moretz aka Hit Girl but mention has to go to Nic Cage who does a great turn as Big Daddy.

The comic fanboy in jokes come thick and fast and the script is spot-on.

The action is frenetic but stays coherent; you always know who's gone down and where it's taking place in the space, something many so-called action directors seem to forget is important.

    Geek perfection. Get excited boys!

Yeah, an ad went up on the side of a bus stop near me the other day. Just figured it out today that it was an advert for a film.

Glad to hear it's a good one, but they need to get their advertising sorted out. Just seen the trailers, and they didn't give me any clue what the film's really like. Given they seem to be doing mainstream advertising, and all the costs that entails, they ought to get their message sorted first.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Read the book a few weeks back, really enjoyed it. The hardback collection is a lovely edition. I suspect the ending will be quite different in the movie.

I've not read the book yet because I've been disappointed with film adaptations of much loved comis in the past. Decided to do it the other way around.

Did overhear that the ending is changed though so purists may have an issue. However the film's ending is great!

Just what I thought all that time back. Thanks for the review Pac-man. Did you catch an Empire screening?

I don't think the advertising will be such an issue once the moral brigade get on top of this, it'll be self-marketing to a degree and I'm sure it'll have legs.

    Can't wait.

I'm afraid there was a similar article in the Fail this morning, talking about the swearing.

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

This is good though. I'm sure it's all going exactly as planned. Vaughn, Morrison and Goldman knew they'd never get away with it, all being British.

    Free publicity all the way.

Easily one of the best superhero films I've ever seen, this. It's funny how all the billboard ads make it out to be yet another unfunny spoof film, I even fell for that myself before checking this thread.

Sure, it has all the superhero movie cliches in there, a contrived and predictable plot, and the inevitable cheesy melodrama. But it's also tremendous fun to watch, very violent at times, and with some great scenes + lines. Top acting all-round too - yes, even Nic Cage (Adam West impersonation - great touch). Surprised to read that most of the main actors were British, the accents were certainly convincing.

Hit Girl easily steals the show, though. I just read that the same actress will be playing the vampire in the American remake of Let The Right One In, so that role is in good hands.

Seriously - don't be fooled by the ads and just go watch it.

    Show's over, motherfuckers.

I am so up for this film :)

Wondering if the end of the comic makes it in...? :)

This is my face as I fuck you in the ass! (paraphrased)

I especially liked how on the BBC Breakfast show, they went from talking to the director about the controversy the film is attracting and how the gory violence would be damaging for anyone below 15 to watch, to twisting the director's answers into saying the violence is acceptable because of violent video games corrupting the youth.

Can't wait to see this film. At first I didn't think much of it, but I'll admit, the more I hear about it, the better it sounds.

Trailers look sick. I am fully anticipating this being GREAT, even if Berbatov's twin is in it :)

I had no idea this was getting such good word of mouth. Thought it looked like fairly silly fun but you lot have made me actually want to see it.
