I'm sick of all these great shows that get cancelled because there are other, more profitable shows that they want to put on instead - not only that but they are cancelled after the last episode has bee made so you never get to see a conclusion!

    Those that come to mind:

-Carnivale (fuck me this was amazing)
    -Threshold
    -Terminator TSCC
    -The 4400

Not so annoying as they had a chance to wrap up but were still cut short:

-Stargate SG1 (at least able to continue things via film)
    -Stargate Atlantis
-Enterprise (yes I know that the first 2 seasons were slow but by 3 and 4 they really took off)
-Battlestar Galactica (I think given another season, the show wouldn't have ended up with that ending, as they obviously didn't come up with a decent idea to explain certain things.

    What else?

Southland got 7 episodes, was renewed and then cancelled. What a fucking joke!

    Odyssey 5, Invasion.

Carnivale really lost its way in the 2nd season.

Gutted about the 4400 though. I even ordered the follow on book from amazon!

Space Above and Beyond as well.

Thatīs what you get when you do intelligent comedy for a dumb audience...Well, at least they are doing the movie.

Tru Calling was another good show that was cancelled on the worst possible time. Watching the last seconds was almost painful.
It was like watching someone build one of the those things when someone pushes a ball that then pushes some dominoes that fall on something that triggers something else but you donīt get to see the ball being pushed and everything happening.

Really? Season 1 was great, and ended on a cliffhanger. Season 2 was fucking dire, from the very first ep.

Oh, and to add to the thread:

    Veronica Mars!

I can only say there will be blood if they cancel Sanctuary. I bloody love that show!

As for those already cancelled, I did see a few episodes of Aliens in America, that could have been a hit given a chance. The only high profile show I know that people were in uproar over cancellation was Veronica Mars - something I really don't get, when you have a show that has the critics sucking your proverbial dick, gushing over it at every corner and raking in every award they can cram into its arse, why cancel it?

American TV seems to be "Get us an unrealistic share of the ratings or you're toast" - and no matter how much brilliance people come up with, the sad reality is that very very few shows will ever get more than a couple of seasons. No matter how much brilliance and awesome you cram into those seasons...

    And yet Heroes continues on.

Justice called, it's told us to fuck off.

S2 had some interesting ideas but utterly failed to do anything of note with them. As soon as the conspiracy was fully revealed it became arse, though the whole 2nd American Revolution thing has promise as a continued story.

Massive agree. The final season is just nonsensical as it tries to tie things up (at least a bit).

    I would add my geeky:

Futurama (although I feel 25 mins is plenty long for any single story)
    Firefly (probably)

Conversly I think a lot of shows could stand trimming by a couple of seasons:

Star Trek TNG or TOS (not expert on DS9 or others so won't pass comment)
The OC (season 1 is nigh-on perfect in isolation)
NYPD Blue (went on far too long. Kill after Jimmy Smits leaves I say)

What was the ending to 4400? I know it never got made, but has the ending been leaked? Or was it simply another Lost, as in a killer penguin was going to attack the girl one week, drag her to a manhole and shine a torch in her eyes, only for the next week some steam to rise up from the grate and terrorise people, while a bush quivers in the corner of a garden and some passing car goes by with one of those comedy horns which everyone mistakes as a large creature coming to eat them, only to turn out that the whole island is a massive sun dial and that up is in actual fact down. (in other words, made up as it went along).
