Kudos to you and the other fine chaps involved in this, it looks like a real labour of love. Trips to the toilet just got a lot more interesting!

Gave this a whirl while I was waiting for the 360 to update last night and it's not bad at all.

Main gripes are that it doesn't feel quite right, although I couldn't say precisely why (and I am comparing it to a 26-year-old original) and that the first level is pretty much too difficult for a first level and could well put lots of people off even before they've given it a proper go (the following few levels are much easier, imho).

I like how there's stuff to unlock and that you can jump right back to the level where you died if you just want to try and beat each individual level, and it's nice to have an indication of where the level actually came from while you're playing. The various 'boot' endings are very amusing too, although I could've done without the blood splats.

    Will carry on playing!

    ZXDS, of course!

Edit: Skorms, the web site might make it look like this is a commercial product but it isn't (although you can donate if you like it). There's a download link on the left so you can put it on your flash cart.

I have the same problem with the Rick Dangerous homebrew remake for NDS. I can't get around to playing it, because it feels as if something's off.

This is the same as the original Manic Miner, of course. Matthew Smith said in Retro Gamer that the Central Cavern in MM is "disproportionately hard" compared to the next couple of levels, which is partly why I chose to have Home At Last as the first stage in TLL. If modern gamers are so wussy they get put off by a simple 2D platform level with one marginally tricky jump in it, that's their loss - in a game that you can speedrun in under 15 minutes and which has checkpoints after every level, you have to have SOME challenge in there.

Not sure what you mean by "feel" - the physics are exactly the same as the original. Glad you're enjoying it, though.

Okay, I'm completely stuck on level 19. I just can't see a way through it. Am I rubbish? :-D

I love the 'special' levels that you can find and unlock, btw. Got three so far.

I'm assuming this must be a daft question, but what do I need for my DS in order to go about playing this?

Some sort of naughty flash cart, like an R4.

Any BBC Manic Miner fans care to tell me how to finish your version of The Final Barrier, then? Before I go nuts?

Ah right, cheers. I'll go and see a man about a dog then, as it were.

It also runs nicely under emulation. I've put together a one-stop emulator package - just unzip and run NOZ.EXE:

    http://worldofstuart.excellentcontent.com/NOZDS.rar

Level 19 is a brilliant level, probably the hardest in the game, but it IS possible. The last section needs a very precise jump, but it's from a standing start so it's not too tough to pull off. No more clues for now.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the key that's almost directly above me at the start of level 19. Approaching from the right is death by conveyor belt/beastie. Approaching from the left looks like it could work but I can't make Willy fall into the gap.

One more hint, then - you do need to get that key from the right.

Is it my card, or does it not save your progress for when you switch off\on again?

It is quality b.t.w. I totally disagree with the guy who said it didn't feel right. It plays perfectly.

Hmmm, I just read the website again and see it should save, but it doesn't on my ds-xtreme card. I also have a bit of title screen corruption on boot as well, which then clears once playing.
