Sorry about that, it didn't get posted before.

If Microsoft doesn't get a complete overhaul on graphics next gen, & if Natal takes off, we could be seeing another Wii like console with MS, just like with the Wii itself. Oh, no...

    More news about the launching:

I was thinking about this "forward compatibility" stuff the other day... if they can pull it off (and assuming they've made devs stick to certain standards, it may be possible) then I think it'd make me much more likely to pick up their next gen machine.

Up the resolution / framerate / AA / AF on your old games? Win.

I've heard that Sony will make the new Xbox 720.

    Hated, adored, never ignored.

A return to ATI would make sense of course, because it'd mean backwards compatibility with Xbox 360 would be possible.
    Fail.

MS own the patents on the 360 GPU, they made sure of that after the Xbox; on which they didn't, Nvidia hold them.

Apparently it's a cert requirement that 360 games are coded entirely using MS approved APIs - no coding directly to the "metal" like you saw with (for example) late PS2 games.

So that would help 360 games run on the next Xbox.

Polygon have a supposedly leaked MS document detailing features of the '720':

Would a leaked document, if legit, really refer to Microsoft's next console as 'Xbox 720'!?

Absolutely zero chance that's legit judging by the way the logos have been jumbled together in that balloon, given what little I know about brand guidelines and clean space around logos.

Probably - that's what Bungie's contract with Activision called it remember.

And to be honest it looks rather legit I think. It's 56 pages, not many folk would go to that length for a laugh. Also if it was made in 2010 then it was pretty much speculation anyway.

Yes, it almost seems like a 'this is what we're aiming for' rather than firm details.

The Kinect Glasses are an interesting detail. Were Google's Glasses a known project back in 2010? Wikipedia page doesn't explicitly say when they were first announced, but most the sources are dated 2012

I doubt if it will end up being called that but they certainly have used the name in the product placement that's in Real Steel.

If it's a fake document someone has put a lot of effort into it, as an aspirational document for future planning I can see it potentially being genuine.

There had been rumours about Project Glass for a while but I don't think they went back as far as 2010.

720 is a logical codename, but I would be surprised if it kept that name.

Still, we never expected Wii or WiiU to survive...

They don't make the 360 themselves do they? I assumed they outsourced everthing to foxconn like everyone else.

Cubby didn't know how to turn off sigs!

Wouldn't they call it by Django or whatever it is? (Like Sony would refer to Orbis. Nintendo revered to Revolution before the name was announced. Etc.)

It's a bit disconserting that a video website doesn't deal with this news because no one works on weekends. It's the internet Eurogamer, have someone working on weekends!
