    Apparently it's coming, if this alpha-version video is to be believed (thanks to RPS and Polygamia.pl). Looks brilliant.

    The current speculation is that it's a confidential internal promo video aimed at prospective publishers, leaked either deliberately by CDProjekt or by one of their recently fired employees.

    While I generally dislike QTEs (Fahrenheit, I'm looking at you!), the combat ones used in the original Witcher felt quite natural, a nice extension of the traditional Diablo-style button mashing.

    That's quite exciting. I'm quite impressed by the lighting effects for the changing of time over the course of a day. Combat looks like it may have been improved. Intriuged to see if it's PC only again. Could be.

    I'm going to have to play the original. I wish it was available digitally over here, I'd have bought it months ago if it was on Steam. (Doubly annoying that it shows up in Gamersgate's search results with a price in pounds, but when you click on it it tells you it's 'not available in your region')

    First official (although) brief FAQ) from the official Witcher forum.
    6. What engine will be used in The Witcher 2?

    The game does not use the Aurora Engine anymore. We developed a brand new engine dedicated to creating games with the design and features we love. The new engine is fully scalable and, well… kicks ass;). We believe it will let us avoid all bottlenecks we came across during development of the first Witcher. Exact engine specifications, features and name will be revealed after the official announcement.

    7. What platform will the game be released on?

    Although PC is certain choice we made regarding platforms for The Witcher 2, we also want to release the console version. More information will come after official announcement of the game.

    Bloody hell. Watched some video footage from the gamescom last night. It's all filmed off-screen, but it looks incredible. They weren't kidding when they said they had the "best RPG engine" in the world. Makes Dragon Age 2 look like something from yesteryear. O_O
