I saw the rumours yesterday, and almost cried with happiness.

World tour confirmed too, they've gotta come to the UK. Hopefully a Glasgow date is on the cards, but I'd gladly travel down to England to see them. -
whuht! NO WAY!

BTW, for any gamers looking at this in confusion, this is like the Shenmue 3 of music.

Pavement were one of the best live acts I have ever seen.
Now I just hope they make it to Europe.

They don't have ponytails and flying Vs, you might not know them.

Wow weird. I keep trying to watch those videos, but I keep passing out within about 5 seconds of the music starting.

Registered 4 years agoDoes this mean no more Stephen Malkmus solo albums? I only really liked his first one, to be fair. -

+1 I thought his first album was brilliant, (Have you seen the fan made video for Jo-Jo's Jacket, which was so good it became the official video ?). Rapidly lost interest from the 2nd album on though.

My sister got us tickets for a SM & the Jicks gig later in the year, this reunion news has kinda taken the shine off of that.
Still, he his one of the best guitarists around, so it's always a pleasure to watch.
To answer your question, this is apparently just a reunion, not a reformation.
But who knows what those contrary kids will do? -
I got Pig Lib for a pound in Fopp. It's really good.

Registered 7 years agoWhen they do proper pop songs with melodies they're second to none. I think Gold Soundz is one of the best songs ever for example. As is Major Leagues. However, when they fuck around tunelessly (80% of their tracks) they're unlistenable. -

I'm sure there will be a few UK shows seeing as SM loves the place so much.

Registered 4 years agoPretty much confirmed that they're going to do a UK tour next year, probably including Glasto. -

Registered 6 years agoHmmm, not sure about the Glasto tip...
"but we're not going to do anything stupid, any big festivals that are really dumb."
...unless they're just messing with our heads, man.
Last time I saw them, was the last time anyone did, at Brixton. My one and only real claim to indie history-witnessing...
There's an easter egg on their DVD of footage of Malkmus snapping a pair of handcuffs to the mike stand a declaring "This it what it's like being in this band" or something to that effect.
Was a weird gig iirc. -
