I think old old sports stars we hold up as greats weren't actually that great.

I think Pele, the busby babes etc wouldn't make any Prem side now, old golfers too, Ben hogan, sam snead, Jack Nicklaus etc I think would get destroyed by even the average professional if they were around now.
Apart from the Olympic Athletes in the 80's - they were just filled with steroids.
All of this is totally true, athletes today are like finely tuned engines with a carefully controlled diet and a mass of people caring for their every need, just look at Andy Murray. The guys who won the world cup in 66 would get destroyed in this age by even a championship side, they were all filled with alcohol and cocaine.

    You better watch out.
    You better beware.

It's easy to assume that all knobheads who are into online gaming are teens. There are no cold hard facts to suggest it. In fact, check out the WoW South Park episode (and no I don't look like that).

Your loss - from experience I find angry teens make the best targets to shoot in games. Hearing someone get more and more worked up, screaming obscenities and "hacker" down the microphone has given me a hell of a lot of laughter in the past.
I must be getting old because all of that stuff ruins games for me now. I seemed to be better at ignoring it in the past.

What? But there's nerds , who are into nerdy things like Star Trek. And, get this, they know this hot girl, and when they say nerdy things around her, she doesn't know what they mean!

It's like a Beauty and the Geek sitcom! Why are your sides not splitting?

Every now & again it does get irritating - hopefully games will incorporate a default "mute all" button.
It's worse on PC games when there's a chat bar that you can't hide. I've often thought about cutting out a bit of card and taping it over the corner of the screen. My eyes can't help but keep track of all the waffle and nonsense people come out with sometimes.

It's Always Sunny really isn't that funny .

You know those bad comedians that have a line they know isn't that funny, and so they get over that by shouting it, often in a funny voice. And only really, really stupid people find that funny.

Well It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a sitcom based completely around poor, crass jokes shouted in funny voices.

That can only come from a man who has never seen The Nightman Cometh.

  • Deleted user 13 July 2013 15:45:12

Or "The Waitress is Getting Married" or "The Gang Buys A Boat" (because of the implication)

Big Bang Theory started out alright. But now it's just 25 minutes of listening to a really loud and unnecessary laughter track, whilst every slightly nerdy joke (Bar the most easy to comprehend) gets thoroughly explained after it, due to the show not even pretending to be aimed at the geek audience anymore.

I never really got into tbbt, watched the occasional episode, but it's turned into everything I dislike about US sitcoms. A good idea, but it's devolved into crappy sex jokes with pre-recorded laughter every 5-10 seconds.

I'm a nerd and should find it funny but I can't muster anything more than a rare and short lived smile 2 or 3 times every 10 minutes.

There's an episode of the Simpsons where they show the family watching TV and it's a parody of somesort and the lady whines "I wanna have sex", then fake laughter, the man flushes the toilet, more fake laughter... this sums it and too many promising US sitcoms.
