Registered 9 years agoI did try my bestest to find one.
It's looking great, screenshots seem to indicate all the old gameplay concepts are intact. It's rare that I find myself looking foward to home time for a demo of all things.
Ploughed hours and hours into the original. -

Registered 8 years agoHad a quick go during lunch, seems pretty cool, I like how all your citizens are individuals. The cahracter creation positive/negatives seems like a good system
will be playing it again laterThere is only one thing we say to Death: 'Maybe Tomorrow'

I would say there is a bit less managing in Tropico than in Caesar. That was the case in the first one anyway.

Registered 8 years agoI am actually looking forward to the 360 version of this so hope they do a 360 demo. It will stand out on the 360 as it does not really have anything else like this. -

I also love, LOVE the Impressions games and on the back of that went and bought Tropico and I can't explain why but it just didn't do it for me, at all. I've sunk weeks into Caesar III and Pharaoh and Emperor but Tropico got real boring real fast.
So is this like a Caesar type game? I love Caesar...say no to Eurogamer sigs

Registered 9 years agoBased on an evening with the demo this is a winner.
It's more or less the original with very nice graphics and some cool extra touches. -

Registered 5 years agoThis better come out on PS3 or OSX aswell, I don't want to be forced to buy a 360 just to play it but I REALLY WANT TO PLAY IT.

Registered 8 years agoMy only minor complaint about the demo is that it appears to be the same as tropico 1 with a few new additions likes cars and roads. So if you didn't like the first one this won't change your mind."If we hit that bullseye the rest of the dominoes will fall like a a house of cards, checkmate." Zapp Brannigan

I downloaded the demo and will be giving it a proper go this evening. I hope I can get it looking good on my laptop with ATI Mobility Radeon 4650 with 1GB memory. The auto settings didn't exactly look very detailed.
EDIT
I have everything set as high detail apart from anisotrophy, antialiasing and post processing which I have as low - looks stunning in 1366x768 and runs very smoothly. Might even ramp it up a little further and see how it goes!

Anyone tried this on a 360? It's £25 new in Game, which both excites me and gives me a bad feeling.

Registered 7 years agoPlayed the 360 version till about 1am last night and it's great fun. The controls are a little bit fiddly when you're used to using a mouse for this kind of game, but after an hour of adapting it felt pretty smooth. The game is as fun as ever - the graphics are functional - there's a little bit of tearing once in a while, but hey, it's not about the graphics.
I can't compare it to the PC version, but I'm enjoying it a great deal and I'm really glad I took a chance and bought it.D****** ******r

Do they make it easy to navigate menus using the controller? Any other advantages the mouse would have other than speed and accuracy, something I never usually have a problem with using the controller.

Registered 7 years agoNavigating the menu's is very easy, yes. There's a menu on the right trigger that lets you issue edicts, change the game speed etc... and the yellow button opens the build menu. It took me a while to get used to the controls, but I don't think they are difficult or fiddly.
The only real advantage a mouse would offer is speed.D****** ******r

Plus I haven't played Batman (unfinished) or ODST (unfinished) in weeks, nor even DJ Hero in the last week... -
Well. Owen. You want it. You'll keep wanting it and end up getting it anyway. So just get it.
