Well, that's an hour and a half gone in a flash! 0_o
These town portal scrolls, do they let me go back to town, save and then come back later or do i have to complete a dungeon once i've started it?

The game saves where you quit it, even in the middle of a dungeon. Town portal scrolls are just for selling stuff, finishing quests etc. Way too many of them, I keep selling them.

The game is a bit generous with loot, anyhow. I am almost completely in unique gear already, and have found such a shockingly overpowered mace that I am more or less one-shotting even special mobs. :p

Cheers Lou, i've managed to pick up a bunch of Rare stuff but i can't use it yet. I'm only playing on Normal for my first run through so i can get back into the swing of things.
I'd forgotten how compelling these games are. I'm having a wail of a time :)

Just saw the Quick Look of this on Giant Bomb. Looks great, I'll definitely be trying out the demo tomorrow. If it's a decent length then 15 quid's a good price, too.

Yeah, I'm already getting to the point where I weigh the maths for 10 minutes to choose a pair of shoulder pads.

I've also got way too much money and I get the feeling that either game is very short or by the end the weapon damage numbers will be in the thousands.

I've been playing it all evening and I'm mad that I have to go to bed! Its an utterly charming game that's scratching my Diablo itch like nothing else has for years. With good reason too, considering its made by devs from Diablo 1&2 and scored by Matt Uelman!

If you enjoy this type of game at all you shouldn't think twice about grabbing it.

Think I've made a mistake starting on Normal. It's incredibly easy.

Got to the 3 sisters boss and more or less one shotted all 3 of them at once.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing, but I'm too far in to start over so I'll just ramp it up on the next play. It's probably not going to be a long game given the install size.

Well that would explain a thing or two.

It sooo easy to play, i don't mean there's no challenge to it just that it's almost like meditation and then you see "glancing blow" happening more often and you remember to check your loot. You see something nice and upgrade your kit when you remember you can equip stuff on your pet so you check if you can upgrade them too. Sweet.

    It's good to be back!

Why am i typing this? I've got loot to whore! See ya :)

Hard to say what's best difficulty wise. Just tried 20 mins on very hard with the Ranger character and even the 2nd floor was pretty much impossible at first. Seemed to be less lewts as well.

Might try a fresh Berserker on very hard as I've put 3 hours into one already and know the ropes.

    Oh fuck, its nearly 4am!

I just discovered there's a shared stash north of the character stash chest. So don't spend hours selling awesome gear your other characters could use to vendors ><

    Bed time.....maybe.

I'll be writing scripts and caressing customers but in my head i'll be slaughtering masses and looting their bodies.

supposedly you can retire you hero and you get a bonus for your new character so if you started on easy and want to swap to hard, maybe that's the thing to do.

So, played single player for a bit. Pretty decent. Went back to the main menu to do some multi-player and.. it doesn't have any.

what's the point in getting 'phat lootz' if I can't show it off. Seems like a pretty massive oversight, even local p2p play would have made it a must buy instead just of a good single player loot-em-up.

Yeah, lack of multiplayer seems like a deal breaker to me.

There's a free MMO being developed based on Torchlight and it's due in 24 months :)
They wanted to polish the Single Player and get it out there for people. Personally i'm not bothered if i can show my "+20 Mace of Twatting" to other internet spods or not. The game's cheap and fun so i'm a happy bunny :)

Don't get me wrong, I'll approach this game with an open mind - as Diablo 2 ranks as one of my favourite games of all time it would be foolish not to - and my initial impressions based upon about 30 seconds of game play are good.

It's just hard to get over the fact that offline Diablo 2 was pointless as soon as you realised you could hex-edit your character.

EDIT: Wouldn't even need to be multiplayer per se, just some kind of online leaderboards coupled with cheat detection would do it for me.

There are glitchs to let you reach level 20 before the second room of the dungeon, so even if they checked for save game exploits etc it's still be easy for people to find glitchs to get the same result, it's not like they have a huge dev team like blizzard who can handle glitchs should they occur.

or you could just play the game as designed and enjoy it properly? :-\
