Started playing this on my mobile. Its a bit limited in what you can do compared to the images that are in this thread. There is no crafting and only two mobs at the moment. Still, its quite good fun.

Whats the EG server (assuming I can join it from a mobile)? I might buy the full thing actually as its quite enjoyable.

Unfortunately the differences prevent you joining a PC server - heck, they weren't even going to have Survival at all on mobile until the community insisted on it.

I still love playing on Pocket Edition though - I use it to test structures and, if they look okay, build them on the PC EG server.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

This is the kind of cool stuff I had hoped vanilla Minecraft would add. I can't play these days without the Technic Pack.

Awesome, except I've never been able to use Bukkit or Modloader due to java incompatibility. Maybe they'll finally cut off the 32-bit java support from the official release...

Very impressive. If these people are out of work they should be snapped up as quickly as possible to put these skills to use!

Minecraft 1.2.5 and CraftBukkit 1.2.5 R1.0 are up.

The 1.2.5 client works on 1.2.4 servers, so don't worry about updating.

I kinda fancy giving proper Minecraft a go, I have the pocket one but the touchscreen controls are pretty janky.

I'm pretty poor at the moment but when I do get a copy, I'll be exercising my obsession with symmetry on the EG server.

    Hello EG People.

I have been watching a little of mincraft on youtube and it looks like a lot of fun. I have never played it and as it is comming out on the 360 in under a month, i would like to know if it is going to be multiplayer and if any of you are going to be getting it..?

I may (WILL) need some help getting started... :-)

I think the current state of knowledge is here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Xbox_360_Edition

Basically it will have multiplayer, but maybe only locally. I definitely won't be getting it as it is currently described - it seems like a very inferior version of the PC/Mac Minecraft, and I can't believe it'll be updated as often.

Edit: I realized the other day that Minecraft is the only game I ever play. And that I derive almost as much enjoyment from watching youtube videos of mine craft as I do playing it. It's a little tragic.

I've been playing this far too much recently, please don't look at the servers logs!

@Riverguard (not sure who that is on the forum):
I've had one or two ideas about possible projects.
#1 A new railway linking up either the northern or southern continents.
#2 An effing huge pyramid, probably built out of sandstone, could have an interesting labyrinth inside.

Not great ideas I know, I'll keep thinking.

    Portable view - Never forget.

OK, if i was to get this on my 2 year old Laptop, what spec does it need and is there anywhere to get advice on how to play. I give up on games too easy and would not want to miss out on this...

I imagine it'd run fine, it's not the most demanding game in terms of performance.

Check out Minecraft wiki for getting started, there's a beginners guide and various other helpful articles. The game pretty much tells you nothing so it's up to you to experiment, explore and look up information. That's in the spirit of the game, it's odd I've never played anything like it. You're thrown into this new frontier and left to your own devices, inevitably you'll die a few times before you start to get you feet and if my experience is in any way common you'll die just after you get comfortable :)

It's not high spec, but it is surprisingly demanding if you want a good draw distance.

Just load it up and see what happens :) All you need to know is you can punch trees and you need something to live in by nightfall.

Really depends on the graphics card. For example I have a netbook with integrated intel graphics and the game runs like crap on the lowest settings. Even though stuff like optifine does help considerably it still only has enough grunt to let me log in at my house and poke the fires/let the garden grow, I wouldn't dare try and explore.

I would imagine anything nvidia or ati have made in the past few years would be fine though or even the intel crap could manage given a beefy enough processor, just not an Atom.
