AWESOME

Fab little Java game where you basically build shit using blocks.

Not too great in single player, but register and get on one of the MP servers and some of the things people have created are fucking amazing.

I URGE YOU TO DO AS I AM DOING.

Which is playing this game.

Oh god, what happened, last thing I remember was me buying minecraft and then 5 hours seemed to go missing

games for me are like zombie survival, you build a fort, gather supplies from beyond your walls, get back before nightfall, hoping zombeis and skeletons don't get into your fort, then repeating the next day

Enemies respawn in the dark so there is an spooky atmosphere when exploring caves, leaving torches as you go

I can't believe this has so few replies

This game is awesome, if you love stuff like Dwarf Fortress or open world games where you can mess around and do tons.

Notch has added tons of features (minecarts of doooom!) and should hopefully be adding multiplayer soon, which will be fricking awesome.

Does anybody else play this? He's sold around 20,000 copies, somebody else on here must own it!

I saw some videos months ago but haven't kept up with it since as it looked awesome but didn't really appeal as it was kind of sparse at the time.

It's come a long way. Beware one guy has a loud mic in that vid.

He's added a ton more, but you only for people that have paid.

I'm not a huge fan of the creative modes (which are free afaik), I find them a little dull but the in Alpha build you get crafting, creatures and crazy rideable minecarts. It doesn't sound much but he's managed to create quite an awesome atmosphere when you're way underground trying to find more iron, you get so paranoid listening out for the horrible 'twang' of the skeletons..

I'm stupidly excited for the addition of multiplayer to the alpha build!

I've just bought the alpha of this yesterday and it needs more content but it's a fun game .
The world is generated with 3d blocks consisting of soil wood rock sand water etc that you can interact with and make into tools or build with , I'm hoping it's a Dwarf Fortress very lite in the making .
There's a wiki that has some of the recipes which is essential reading , it's still a bit basic but worth a look .

Stumbled across this a few days ago, I honestly couldn't get it. just running about building shit. I'm not a creative type in my games so I feel its wasted on me. If there was an objective then I'm sure I'd like it.

Bought this about 2 weeks ago and I can't recommend it enough to all my (like minded) friends and fam.

The whole day/night cycle is brilliant and when you start a new game the 1st thing you must do is build yourself a secure place to stay because when night comes... so do the nasties!!

One thing though Ive built a small farm/base next to a waterfall (looks niiice), but i keep hearing creepy sounds, kinda like music but not very long (about 3 - 5 seconds). Does anyone have an idea what this could be?

Multiplayer will be great!

For some reason i thought this game was some cheap Warcraft knock-off featuring an underground world. And it would be advertised on every single webpage known to man by a women with unfeasably large breasticles with a caption saying "Mine my nether regions, My Lord!"

Is it wrong to be that suspicious of any game containing the letters C, R, A, F and T in that order?

This game is ridiculously awesomely addictive. Ly.

Has everybody else also made a treehouse? Or rather, two treehouses connected with a bridge, one of which is 4 stories tall?

Me neither. I've been spending hours building temporary structures in MP. As soon as MP gets added to survival I'll be buying, that's for sure.

MP has been added. Not sure how it works though, you have to set up a server or something. I've bought anyway. Even single player survival is bloody fantastic.

Yeah MP survival is around, though it's not as feature full as the SP survival.

There's a good few servers kicking around for it, i'll see about setting up an EG one if there's enough interest.

I finally settled on a snow map after loads of restarting and messing around.

Built me a little log cabin on a beach and I'm in the process of hollowing out an entire mountain for my new base and I'm strip mining about 20 levels down.

Also building some traps (a big hole in the ground) to capture some creepers for gun powder. I'll get some proper TNT strip mining on the go then

Anyone know the score with dungeons? I've yet to find one.

Oooh... Creeper-traps. Good idea.

Dungeons are moss-lined little rooms with a spawner and some loot in them. I think they're quite small and hard to find. As far as I know they need to be dug out.

Yet to find one either.

Another cool thing I've found very very useful is Lamposts and Light houses

For a lamp post I use 2 stone blocks with a block of wood (not planks) on top. Build a set of temp steps and set the very top of the block of wood on fire with a flint.

Where ever I go exploring now I build a trail of lampposts from my house which makes getting lost that little bit harder.

Lighthouses are basically the same principle but on a huge scale!
