    @Physically_Insane Yeah, you should. I've never had any trouble with eBuyer on issues before... so hopefully should sort it.

    Fellow i5 3570K users, how have you found overclocking? I managed 4.2 with +0.030 offset, which runs under max (prime95/blend)load at around 1.320 vcore.

    Couldn't get the bastard stable (at 4.2) at any lower voltage, bit cheesed off as I thought I'd be able to hit 4.4 easily (have a good cooler). Auto voltage option running @ 4.4 shows vcore at 1.344 @ max load, temps acceptable.

    Thing is, both those voltages seem damn high to me, and the internet overclocking guide consensus seems to be that anything over 1.35 is a bit dodgy. I really want to push for 4.4, but am a bit wary. Any thoughts/advice?

    Just stay with 4.2Ghz. There seems to be some sort of barrier past that on the newer chips. You get diminishing returns for a much higher voltage, temperatures and inevitable noise.

    I was in a similar situation to you and then just realised that it was a good overclock and there were too many downsides for squeezing such a tiny amount past 4.2Ghz

    @Roddles

    Yeah good advice. What vcore are you running @4.2, if you don't mind me asking?

    I'll check later in the morning, but I think its a similar dynamic offset to yourself.

    I haven't OC'ed because I only have a stock cooler. My BIOS has a turbo funtion that automatically OCs to 3.8 when needed, so I figured a 0.2-0.4Ghz difference wasn't really worth the investment in a new cooler....OR IS IT?!?! dun dun duuunn.

    It's all well and good overclocking in the winter, but it will all fall apart wen it gets hot in July!

    Well if it gets hot in July.

    I'm using a Noctua DH-14 cooler.

    Quick question for you PC gurus. If I'm getting screen tearing (like in every game) is this a monitor problem? My monitor is 60hz which I thought would be enough. V-sync helps a bit, but doesn't completely remove it.

    is vsnyc only helping a bit because your framerate isn't high enough to get to the 60fps level?

    @Physically_Insane Full Vsync should stop screen tear altogether. Check that the card settings for your monitor are also set to 60hz in control panel/gfx driver settings.

    Force Adaptive Vsync in the Nvidia control panel and then run the game in exclusive fullsreen mode (not fullscreen windowed).

    That way it'll stay VSync'd at 60fps, then turn it off when it dips below as so your framerate doesn't go south.

    Been impressed how my i5 2500k has managed in Thailand... Played games at 4.4Ghz with an ambient temperature of 35 degrees without any issues.

    So should I overclock with stock or invest? I think 4Ghz is stock limit with +0.065 offset. So I've seen on YouTube anyway.

    @Roddles

    Thanks fella, looks like yours is a little lower on the vcore than mine, but otherwise as expected. Appreciate you taking the time :)

    @morriss I thought most get 4ghz easily with stock cooler.

    @morriss

    An offset like that would be fairly overkill I think - I'm on +0.030 offset @ 4.2ghz and vcore will reach as high as 1.320. You probably won't get much beyond 4 on a stock cooler, be very very careful with the volts & heat. General internet consensus on these chips seems to be that anything past 1.35 vcore is heading into dodgyland, and heat will increase exponentially past about 4.0ghz, as Roddles and I have found. Don't let the temps go higher than 80 under maximum load and run the latest Prime95 (blend test) for several hours (watching heat carefully) to ensure heat levels are ok and that the chip is stable.

    I bought a 7850 before the Never Settle bundle started, does anyone know if it's possible for me to still claim the games?

    You should contact your supplier for the codes. Different retailers handle it differently. Dabs ask you to email. Ebuyer pack it in with delivery.

    Even if you don't qualify for the new bundle, you should still be able to get the codes for the previous bundle which was Far Cry 3, Sleeping Dogs and Hitman Absolution, I think.

    I've got about 300 (max 350) to spend on a budget PC.

    Only really interested in using it for editing photos, playing some games on it, and...that's about it. Little bit of work but not much. I'm mainly thinking of using it for gaming for 1-2 year old titles at most, I'm not expecting to be able to afford a PC that'll run the latest games.

    Not overly worried about how it looks, as the tower will be in a cupboard in the desk (ventilated) and really won't be using it for anything else much.

    Any suggestions? Processor, motherboard and graphics card mainly. I'd be happy with on-board sound and anything else to keep the cost down.

    @kentmonkey one of the budget amd chips with combined CPU and gpu might be worth a look. I'm not too up on budget specs but try toms hardware and their best CPU / gpu for the money articles.

    What I would say is that at that price range you'll get more for your money if you can find another 100-150. But you should still be able to get something suitable for what you are after

    Hello Cumslingers.

    I need your advise on mice and keyboards.

    I think the time has come for me to buy a new keyboard and mouse and I think wireless is probably best for my daily non-gaming needs. However I do not want to hinder my gaming when I do get to kill some Zealots in Starcraft 2.

    So any recommendations for a wireless keyboard and mouse combo?

    Danke.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

    Logitech do a solar-powered wireless keyboard which is pretty cool.

    I thought you were joking but apparently such a thing does exist! :)

    Looks very good, but I'm not looking to spend 70 on just a keyboard.

    Max is 30 for keyboard and mouse. Optimal 20,

    Logitech MK260 seems to be ok.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

    @mcmonkeyplc it's wired and needs a USB extension, but I bought a Gigabyte GM-M6880 mouse and have been extremely happy with it. It also had 3 dpi settings and works on practically any surface I can find.

    @RobTheBuilder

    Looks good would prefer a wireless one though. My previous experience with wireless keyboard and mouse hasn't been very good though.

    It was creative keyboard and mouse combo and the keyboard fucking lagged! However that was about 4 years ago.

    Come and get it cumslingers!

    @mcmonkeyplc They do a wireless version of this one, not sure of cost. But I've been very impressed with it for the price. The blue/clear laser thing works on everything I've tested it on, even my hand!

    Have the MK260 set. Works fine but the mouse doesn't like certain surfaces in my experience.
