Can the cpu fan go on the wrong way round?

It can depending on the setup.

You probably have your CPU fan connected to the wrong header. Try another one.

Your PC is booting to at least the bios screen yes?

Weird, i took it apart and built it again and the cpu fan is working now. The monitor is now saying that I have to connect the pci cable to graphics card. I've got a gtx 670, does that require two pci cables or just the one?
  • Deleted user 2 April 2013 21:28:49
It's got two 6 pin connectors. I'm not sure if i should plug both cables into it.

@Physically_Insane the manual of the 670 card will say
  • Deleted user 2 April 2013 21:35:21
The manual is shit. Just tells you how to set up the card once you've fitted it on.

@Physically_Insane the website says 6pin x 2, so I think you need both. It's a pretty powerful card so will likely need it
  • Deleted user 2 April 2013 21:38:48
Got it working now. You have to plug in both cables. I'm a fucking idiot.

    @Physically_Insane how's it working?
  • Deleted user 3 April 2013 09:00:05
I've not finished the build yet. I need to buy a couple of sata data cables to connect my hard disk and dvd drive to the motherboard. Hopefully at lunch time I'll find a couple down the high street. Really don't want to have to wait for another delivery.

Did your board not come with the cables?
  • Deleted user 3 April 2013 10:29:48
No, didn't come with any cables. I'm gonna look round my office, see if there are any lying about.

That seems a bit strange. Some of those motherboard boxes are like the TARDIS, so maybe have a deeper dig about inside? :)

@Physically_Insane That was a good motherboard, I would be highly doubtful it wouldn't have at least one sata cable.

I'll have another look when I get in tonight. I'm 95% sure that it only came with a driver disk and a couple of manuals.

@Physically_Insane I've never bought a motherboard which didn't have at least one. Check underneath the box parts to be sure!
  • Deleted user 3 April 2013 19:14:43
So yeah, no sata cables. Double checked all the boxes. A mate's coming round later with a spare, but I think I need two right? I don't even need the dvd drive but I have to use it at least once to install windows.

@Physically_Insane you should email ebuyer and tell them. A board like that should always have at least one. I've bought several boards in the past few years (inc one similar to yours) and all came with two. I never even considered that they might not have one!

Oh and yes you will unless your DVD drive also has a non sata connector too

Yeah, think I might. The case also came with no I/O shield so I'm not sure if I should mount the motherboard without one.

@Physically_Insane They usually come with the motherboard so there is one that matches it. I'd email ebuyer asap and say that your motherboard box had no Sata cables and neither the motherboard nor case had a I/O protector.

    I wouldn't use it without a shield.
  • Deleted user 3 April 2013 22:34:48
Oh man, unreal. Going to email them now.

I thought I'd heard everything that life can throw at you, but a motherboard without a sata cable? Madness

How about when you already have several SATA cables but then your new motherboard requires eSATA, how fun is that looking in the box for a complimentary cable that hasn't been included? :D
