Part of me wishes Thom would have a breakdown again... so we could get another Kid A...

Not quite sure what I was expecting from Amok... but after two listens I'm finding it a little mediocre.

My main problem is how subdued Yorke's vocals are on this, they seem to get lost in the sea of analogue synths and complex rhythms and never really burst out.

I think this is going to be another King of Limbs in all honesty, which (in my opinion) had some good Radiohead songs but no great Radiohead songs, then they started playing the album live and the songs really exploded into something which were often a lot better than the studio versions (again, in my opinion).

I can see the stuff on Amok sounding a lot more alive and full of energy when performed live.

I'm liking it. I've never been keen on Thom Yorke's doodling style but it's grown on me quite a bit. I'll want to listen to The Eraser again next.

Whilst I like TKoL, I agree: From the Basement versions are infinitely more wonderful. Live they're even better.

I'm also a little underwhelmed by Amok, although my expectations were sky-high. I guess I can't really hear a band... The Eraser sounds more like a group of musicians to me, this sounds very much like just Thom and his laptop. That said, I've already listened to it about 20 times, and it's growing on me. The title track is fantastic, wish it was longer.

I've listened to it a dozen times now and really like it.
It's somewhere in between Eraser &TKOL

    8/10, Pretty neat!

This, didn't really like TKOL but seeing them do those tracks live really boosted my appreciation of them.

I'll never get my Orc looking the same again.

It's a fold out , like a double, double gatefold sleeve. It has shiny foil embedded in it.
The art style is similar to The Eraser,

From the look of it, LE is a bit like The Eraser. A lrge fold out of 8 pages or something like it. Regular is a smaller fold out. 4 pages.

I received shipping info. Should be waiting on my doorstep when I get home.

The video to Ingenue is fantastic, even if it is just an expansion of the Lotus Flower video. My can that girl move!

    @Trafford

Thanks for the intel. I really like the art style and the fact it's a continuation although I'm getting fed up with all these awkward cases. it's ironic that a lot of the artists I like keep releasing cardboard cases that open in weird and wonderful ways.

Nothing beats The White Album so far in my collection for sheer arsery. CDs and leaflets go everywhere every time I get that one out.

Standard edition for this methinks, I was tempted by the vinyl double pack but I haven't got round to buying a turntable yet.

I watched that today. He's definitely into his impressionist dancing at the moment. The song instantly grabbed me though, he's getting better and better and folding his voice into the music. Can't wait to blaze up a dooby and listen to the whole album. Between this and Yeah Yeah Yeahs set to finally release a new album I'm very happy at the moment.

Thom removes The Eraser and Amok from Spotify. About time someone took a stand against Spotify who have gradually become worse than iTunes when it comes to paying back to the artists what they deserve.

It's arguable he accelerated the devaluation of music with his pay-what-you-want scheme for In Rainbows. Be careful what you wish for and all that.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

Given the news that Radiohead will be recording their next album this September, I was wondering what do you guys think is the best album they have released so far, or your favourite? Kid A, for me.

Ok Computer and Kid A are kind of equal for me.

Ok is hugely important to me as it came out at a time when I was pretty disillusioned with life in general after moving from London to live in a small country town where I knew no one, didn't like the people I had sort of fallen in with at my new college and didn't know what I wanted to do with my life.

It's one of those rare perfect albums where each track is unique in it's own right and there is no filler tracks on the album. Each track feels necessary and important in the grand scheme of the album, and at the time, that really spoke to me. Still to this day if I'm feeling a bit bleak or pissed off with the world I can stick on Ok Computer and just feel this connection to it and it's message.

Kid A is just a masterpiece of music that perfectly reflects a band being pulled apart and slowly rebuilding themselves as something they want to be, rather than what their army of fans and the music industry wanted them to be. Again, it's a perfect album which flows from one track to the next perfectly, and as much as everyone calls it experimental, I don't really think it is. It just is what it is, a dark follow on to the pessimistic view of our world that Ok Computer was, where Yorke and Co. come to the conclusion that our world is always going to be messed up regardless of what you do, so you might as well just let the madness swallow you.

Edit: also 2015 is far too long to wait for a new album from them. I still don't really get on too well with King of Limbs, which I've always felt is a very weak album for them.

KoL was disappointing, agreed. Still, exciting news that a new album is on the way!!!

Favourite Radiohead album? In Rainbows for me. 'Best' album is more contentious... Would be between IR, OKC, and Kid A.

    Why look, it's a blog:

KoL comes alive... live. Bloom is magnificent, and Give up the Ghost is absolutely glorious. I only ever listen to the FtB versions.
