Has anyone listened to Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma? You can blatantly hear the inspiration for Radiohead within that. Especially the mental stumbling fucked up percussion you get in bloom?

I keep hearing bit of Liars on this album, which makes sense since they've been hanging around. I always thought 'Proud Evolution' by Liars sounded a bit modern-Radiohead, and then Thom Yorke went and remixed it. It's a small world after all...

Anyway, Lotus Flower is the best song i've heard for a long time, though i'm not really digging the rest of the album yet. Weirdly, the release of TKOL has made me pay attention to In Rainbows and now I can't stop listening to that. Maybe i'll get into TKOL when they release their next album.

Makes sense. Out of all the songs on King of Limbs Lotus Flower had me at hello.

    Tear.

Aside from Lotus Flower, Mr. Magpie and Separator (which are awesome - and to a lesser extent, Codex) I'm not digging this album as much as I did the others... I'm not finding as much depth/interest as previous works here, but maybe I just don't get it or something. Not complaining though. I must've listened to it over 40 times since release and it still holds up.

I'm not such a big fan of the opening 4 tracks myself. I find they're easily forgetable against the last 4. Lotus Flower, Codex and Seperator are amazing.

Listened to TKOL on a family drive in the country last weekend. Spring sunshine, lots of bare trees.
The cars audio set up is the best I have.
I think it's their best yet. Not a duff track, it really flows.

    Exciting stuff.

But if Burial and Four Tet's previous 12" is anything to go by, this will be nearly impossible to get hold of, it's already sold out from Bleep.com and they only announced it this afternoon!

    That sounds Brilliant.

Anyways, separator is probably the best song I've ever heard! I love it sooooooo muc

I still consider Give Up the Ghost as the highlight.

Finally put it down to listen to the new Strokes album. According to iTunes I've clocked up 160 listens on average...

I still need to give it a second listen :/

I know it's not technically a Radiohead album, but I never cease to be amazed at how staggeringly brilliant The Eraser is.
  • Deleted user 17 March 2011 10:04:32
The last track as all kinds of immense, those boys know how to finish an album don't they?

Gave it another listen the other day too when taking a break from TKOL and I agree, another masterpiece.

Two new Radiohead songs being released on 12" only for Record Store Day next month.

Supercollider is an awesome song live, and I'm sure a studio version will be sublime. Was kind of miffed they didn't include it on King of Limbs as it definitely has the potential to be the new Videotape in terms of sheer beauty.

I've never seen the lips, but I really want to. They're the only band I want to see live at the minute.

Anyways, I came in here to say that I think the final 4 tracks of The King of Limbs are amazing. Up there with the very best of their work. The opening 4 tracks, however, are quite forgetable.

I've had to stick it on as the final track on a mix I'm making. Its a perfect closer.

So anyone else heard the new tunes?

Supercollider is sublime. But (this isn't a complaint) it's hard to tell if its a Radiohead track or just a Thom Yorke solo track as it's just Thom singing over some electronic sequence while the drum machine raises and falls over lots of synth stabs.

The Butcher is another heavily electronic track, and kind of sounds very early Boards of Canada esq. With lots of clattering beats and eerie synths mixing with Thom's vocals manipulated into looping wails with bits of cut up melodies pop up all over the place.

So yeah... basically the whole EP is very Kid A Part 2. And that's brilliant in my book.

If your into vinyl, go pick it up while you can from any indie record shop. Not sure if this will ever see any kind of digital release (legally).

Instead of a snarky reply, the two songs are here.

That wasn't snarky. And that link didn't work on my phone!

Will this be in the newspaper edition?

I wasn't being snarky at all.

I wasn't aware the songs had leaked online as the official release date isn't until tomorrow.

But those links really don't do the songs justice. If you have a record player or decks and know of a good indie record store, go and buy the record!
