I was doing a bit of digging around the lionhead site with some domain search tools and decided to turn my attention to xbox.com

    Found this nice little announcement.

Starting 9am on Wednesday 19 August, Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers can join forces against a monstrous G-Type Salamander Akrid boss in Lost Planet 2.

I didn't really know this game was coming until a few days ago. I only vaguely recall the first one, most of which was a problem with the small text due to not having a HD TV at the time and it only being a rental. Will definetly be trying this demo though as I tend to try most that are put up on the network.

Hmm. I hope it isn't an mp only demo...

"Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers can join forces..."

Sounds like a co-op demo to me. I'll give it a spin but I didn't really get on with the first game - besides, TrialsHD is taking up all of my xbox time atm.

    I believe it's a co-op demo (the game's gonna do 4 player co-op isn't it?).
I suspect you'd be able to play with AI though (al la RE5).

Play.com are showing a release date well into 2010, but I thought this was a sept/oct'09 release, and am pretty sure this is the date Play were showing until recently too

Is this another qtr 4 casualty ??

It's being shown on PS3 at GC this week - I think it was previously a 360 only title. Maybe the short delay is to allow release of both versions at the same time.

I don't think it was ever a 360 only title.

Should be good...they had a few vids of this from E3....it was fairly surprising when one of the characters ran in the creatures mouth and was fighting his way through it's stomach before being shat out..

Instead of going to all that trouble, you could've just read the article about it here on Eurogamer last week.

It's only available for gamertags A-I first, it's a filtering system they introduced in the last update.

I had a quick go earlier in the single player mode. It seems to be pretty much a single boss fight from the main game.

Feels very much like Lost Planet (suprisingly!) - running seems a little too slow, for example. I think it looks nice, though, and the boss is huuuuge. I think you get medals for performing certain tasks, ie, I got a "first strike" medal for hitting the boss first, and also a bonus for setting up the T-Eng post.

If you play in the single player it gives you three AI squadmates. They seemed to get on OK, although after 5 minutes I didn't see them so I'm not sure what they were up to heh.

Overall - fun. With the customisation options in the full game and the medal system, I could see it becoming quite an addictive score-attack style game, but whether it offers much beyond that remains to be seen.

    Don't think so.

I didn't enjoy the demo, mainly as I don't like the slow movement speed and the short range jump/grapple.

I quite enjoyed the first so looking forward to this. Some of the boss battles were EPIC...though the monotony of them quickly sank in dragging the game down to a solid but exhausting 6-7/10.

Hopefully theyve added a bit of variety this time round, and co-op is always a welcome addition.

It's really good demo, there's a VS at the far side of the map, that you can pick up other players in, also the boss can swallow you and you end up inside his belly, with his stomach acid and all, I didn't manage to make it to his heart or whereeve I was headed.

But this could be good fun on live, Capcom are again being stuborn with their control scheme and have kept the slow awkward jump/grapple and awful battle guage thingy.

Just had a few run throughs off it, very interesting demo. Idealy you need to play with people who you can talk to throughout the fight in order to work together as a team, so if anyone needs another person feel free to add me as I think I'll be making the most of this demo and playing it a few more times as I really want to beat him a few times :-)
