Variety's reporting that Shawshank director Frank Darabont is pitching the zombie comic series to TV studios. AMC have expressed interest, but nothing's confirmed. Sounds very promising though, especially at a time when Kirkman seems about to wind up the comic. Kirkman (on his Twitter feed at least) sounds confident about this happening.

Nice, but I can't help wonder if they'll have to tone down some of the more extreme stuff (The Governor).

More zombies on our screens can only be a good thing.

It'd make a rather good episodic programme, the budget would be quite large though and someone like AMC would have to do it because there's no way it could be a network show.

    This space left intentionally blank.

The Walking Dead is a fantastic comic. They will never do it justice.

I half hope it doesn't happen just like the proposed Preacher TV series that appears to have gone away now.

    Brap, brap, old chap.

The Preacher series is dead, but it's a shame as it was sounding awesome. Garth Ennis was writing and it was HBO so would have been no hold barred.

The reason production was stopped was becuse HBO got cold feet over the shitstorm it would create with religious types in the US.

    Holds barred, as it were.

I misread the title and thought it was that crime drama show starring Eddie Shoestring.

I've just bought book 10. Looking forward to it all heading towards some kind of ending. It's a good series but it's started to meander a little bit.

I give it another six months.

Now you may not have heard of AMC but they make Mad Men and Breaking Bad, two of the best TV shows on right now so this news is officially FUCKING AWESOME! \o/

I was just about to post this very thing!

They also made The Prisoner remake though, be careful. Having said that Frank Darabont is showrunner, it'll be great.

I hope it's shot guerilla style, like The Mist.

    Beautiful tender beings.

as long as they don't over-do the shaky-cam to make it real or gritty

and they avoid too many 'jump' moments, playing it for sustained terror with the odd jump when the audience might be getting too comfortable would be more watch-able, think the kind of back-of-your-mind 'anyone can get whacked when we least expect it' concern of the Soprano's, suspense lurching toward fear/terror... that'd fucking rock

Well, I reckon The Mist captured that pretty well, so I'm happy. He does psychological horror brilliantly too. I cannot fucking wait!

This is such an awesome time in TV and Film for geeks.

Not that I'm a geek of course!

    Beautiful tender beings.

Hope they keep the incredibly bleak plot. Last issue of the 4th hardback collection is fucking harsh, wife and baby killed at the same time.

There's been fuck all zombie action for ages though- issue 68 for example has about 3 pages that even have a zombie on them. It's turning into the Stand :)

And I'm loving it all the more for it. It's not really about the zombies is it? The author made that clear in the foreword to the first TPB.

Soprano style suspense? I think that those two have very different styles. Sopranos is possibly far too laidback and slow-paced to do The Walking Dead any justice.

    /not a Sopranos fan.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play.

This is brilliant news, and has finally spurred me on to keep collecting. I bought the first two volumes ages ago but lost vol2 in a house move. Just bought the compendium to compensate.
