Still no coverage in English yet, so I'm in the undecided camp.

Shopto are doing a pretty good deal on the Collector's Edition.

    Looks like a PS1 game...(almost)

    Preordered, Collectors from Shopto is a bargain and Ghostlight site has good pictures of it, pity the poster is the shitty box art but can't have everything I guess;

I'm still undecided on this, I think I'll wait for some feedback on the forums.

You really would expect some reviews this close to release, I guess it's a pretty niche interest title that a lot of websites don't see bringing hits in. Either that or Ghostlight aren't even sending out review or preview copies. Metacritic doesn't even have it on their database.

Oh, god! It's like Ar Tonelico distilled down to one text box!

Well Shopto shipped my collectors this afternoon UK Mail, so should be with me tomorrow, I'll try post some impressions, not a massive fan of these strategy games but it's not like the PS3 is awash in anime games, the collectors looks nice, and it's 31 . I'm pretty sure they are using the artwork to try and wash over what the actual game is, but....meh.

The last game I was suckered into buying due to irresistably cute anime girls and a nifty special edition was Luminous Arc 2... a thoroughly average SRPG. Once bitten, twice shy? Nah, because I must have those extras, but my expectations of the game itself have been set fairly low.

Yeah, I only found out yesterday myself. Stealthiest release ever.

    Review of the Japanese demo

That's about all I can find, except for one short reader review at Gamespot. Crazy.

This what we get for making the hobby mass market.... still all credit for giving us a real release rather than horrendous large DLC.
  • Deleted user 29 October 2009 11:27:37
No impressions from me today, UK FAIL have lost the parcel somewhere. "Might" turn up tomorrow, apparently. Ironically I got Royal Mail delivery today??

This is the nightmare that awaits us if Royal Mail goes tits up. I haven't ordered yet but I might just use the free RM service and hope for the best.

My main concern is just how limited the Collector's Edition is. Ideally I want a couple of reviews or forumite impressions, but I don't want to wait too long and miss out.

Previous Ghostlight releases seem to have been in plentiful supply. The Collector's Edition version of Digital Devil Saga 2 was around for a while at least.

Haven't you bought four or five PS3 games this week already Fabloney? I suspect the reviews for this will stink and it will come down in price rapidly anyway, I don't think this will be a surprise hit like Demon's Souls since Agarest, is pretty much indistinguishable from a PS2 game, your average reviewer won't be able to get past that.

EG will probably give it to Ellie for another comedy review.

I plan to hand it over to one of my family members who are already persistantly enquiring about what I want for Christmas. And, really, who could want anything else?

Quite. I actually find that image slightly disturbing, the expression on the face seems to be a mixture of anger and determination. She will conquer the sausage.

Got my CE in the post today and have been playing it for roughly 45 minutes. My CE had a small sticker at the top right saying what was in the box and being quite snobbish I tried to take it off. Only to find it's one of those highly sticky and annoying ones that's left some residue...So take note if you want to get it off like me.

As far as the game goes I haven't seen much. A lengthy introduction and some tutorial battles later i've met a scantily clad lass whom I've given my soul too before running off with a small elf girl. Hurrah?

This is why the american version was delayed.

Not sure how I feel about that. But then I'm not sure what everything is that we're missing out on. Anybody know?

The only real difference between the two versions is slightly different underwear on the girls in a few bits of artwork.

    *edit*

    Still no reviews. :-(

This isn't bad actually. Nice to see Ghostlight publishing something other than Wii/DS shovelware again too, although I certainly understand why they decided to go in that direction.

When you say isn't bad actually what do you mean? Is it worth 30?

It's worth 30 if you want to play a strategy-RPG mixed in with a visual novel. It's not brilliant at either, but the mix is pretty fun.
