    :')

Fully agree with Goodfella. That's the best Spartacus episode of the lot if you ask me, even though I knew from the start of the show what would happen during it.

I just watched it again so I could sit and enjoy it properly.
Brilliant is all I can say. Hit all the rights notes and delivered the predictable ending without it feeling like a loss. The sword hand grab reversal had my punching the air!!!
And the final shot of the end credits :(

    One question:

With the spike pit. Had that been built when the Roman messenger rode to meet Spartacus? I'm trying to work out the logistics of it.

Fantastic episode, of course. I cried big manly tears.

I'd say yes, hence the over exuberance with the spear.

Yeah, I thought as much. I just got a bit confused as to where exactly the armies were in relation to each other.

I could comment on how quickly Spartacus's army seems to build spike traps/corpse mountains without anyone noticing, but meh. It doesn't matter. I loved the whole thing, pretty much.

Especially Lugo's death. FUCK YOUR MOTHERS.

Utterly, utterly brilliant. A fitting end to a truly fantastic show.

Loved the little tribute at the end credits for Whitfield.

Probably the best series finale I have ever seen. Bring on a Caesar/Crassus spin-off.

As others said, arguably the best tv ending ever.

They even made Gannacus' death positive.

I assumed that Spartacus threw the spear not only to scare the messenger but to stop him from passing beyond a certain point where the spike pit was. He would no doubt have used the second spear to kill him if he'd attempted to come any closer rather than risk revealing the pit at that point. That's my take on that anyway.

Anyway, a great finale to an immensely enjoyable series that at least wasn't unnecessarily dragged out. I do hope we see more of this kind of thing in the future.

I didn't even think of the spear bit! Some pretty clever writing there; a lot of shows would have just let that slip!

Have any spin-offs been confirmed? Or is it just rumour?

Rumor, the producers have said that there are possibilities of a Caesar-Crassus, or even a Gannicus spin-off, the Gannicus one would be the years he spent after he gained his freedom from the house of Batiatus.

Imo any spin off needs to be Caesar or more Arena stuff. The second to last episode made me yearn for the glory days of Blood on Sand.

A Gannicus spin-off would be awesome, although i'd be pretty disappointed with a Caesar-Crassus one.

I'd be interested in Crassus. However some chums inform me that Rome may have covered this and so they risk repeating that?

I guess it would centre around the first triumvirate yeah. I really can't remember Crassus in Rome (plenty of Pompey, Caesar, Mark Anthony, and later - Octavius). I loved that show, but it's been ages since I saw it.

Just this minute finished watching the last ever episode. I'm man enough to say I had a lump in my throat. Superb drama from beginning to end. Loved every minute of it.

It was a truly great end to the series. So few programs can say that.

A lump! I was full on man tears. Awesome end to a superbly realised show. All three season plus Gods of the Arena had their fair share of perfect scenes and brilliant writing. You could tell everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed being part of the show. Loved every minute of the last episode. As others have said it was a nigh on perfect end to an extremely well told story, and one of if not the best finale ive seen!

Liam Mcintyre brought his A game for his final scene's as Spartacus. I want more but it wont be the same without the character that Liam and Andy Whitfield brought to life through the series.

Hmmm maybe if Gannicus was involved. :)

How has Simon Merrells (Crassus) not had any major roles pre-Spartacus? I loved his performances. His brother is the more famous (he was a receptionist on Casualty...).

Doesn't even have a Wiki page.

Started watching this over the weekend on US Netflix. I had avoided it in the past because I thought it was in the same production ilk as BBC's Merlin or Atlantis...hokey. No-one also thought to mention to me that Lucy Lawless got her bewbs out.....*hrrmph!*

I was going to jack it in, until the pit and Theokoles episodes turned me around. Loving the combination of brutality and scheming, although they could tone down the fake blood. Currently just finished the episode were the posh roman bint buys a gladiator, based on the size of his spear.

I just finished watching all 4 Seasons, start to finish after nearly finishing em the first time around (divorce got in the way), and I have to say that there wasn't a single filler episode in the lot.

An unbelievably consistent programme. Can't recommend it enough. And more tits and gore than you can shake a (very obvious) merkin at.
