It sounds like they're going for something totally different. Which might be good, or might be bad. I certainly didn't want another game like Underworld, so I'm sort of interested. But... who knows? Needs details.

The fact that they dropped the Tomb Raider name suggests a different type of game... with no tomb raiding.

So, it's true. Lara will be voiced by Nolan North? :(

Well well well, I didn't expect this. I have a feeling I'm not going to like this.

Come on! The new formatting makes everything easier. Whats not to like.

Her name being so large in the title might be enough to stop idiot American game journalists from calling her Laura.

Confirmed as two games in developement of which LCTGOL is one and there's another 'secret' game too. The guys who left EA after working on DeadSpace are working on one of them, not sure if it's the Lara game or not though.

I seem to remember sometime back on here, talking about how it might be an idea to have two games. That way, rather than having to try and please the divisive opinions in one game, one small/medium budget game for the Core (pun intended) fanbase, possibly download, freeing up the main title to push in new directions to appeal to a wider audience that has lost interest in the series.

Not saying they payed any attention, but if that is what they've done here, then I welcome the move wholeheartedly.

I'm going to take a counter viewpoint. I think it looks really interesting, and I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

One of the commenters says "Hi all, it's Keir from Eidos and Crystal here. Just to emphasise, this isn't Tomb Raider (Crystal are currently working on TWO games) Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is something new and different and full of win"

So Tomb Raider reboot still to come I guess.

They keep trying to refer to how that top down thing is bringing back the Tomb Raider of old when it blatantly isn't.

Looks very Trine-ish. Hopefully the puzzles are better than Trine.

That looks.. odd. Is it two player? Or it could perhaps be Ico-inspired.

Hmm, when they said CD were working on two games, I figured one was this game, and one was a new IP. Or the next Legacy of Kain. :)

    There´s a co-op option, I think.

Something about a dude with a spear and shield, so he can ram the spear into cracks in walls to provide a jumping/swinging platform. Sounds like it has some potential but I'm not totally sold on how this budget release will hold up considering the quality they manage to get out of the recent full priced adventures.

The full priced games kinda felt like budget games anyway.

Looks neat to me. I like it when big franchises try something different.

And if it bring in some cash and time to make the new Tomb Raider decent then i'm all for it. Hopefully they will put TR back on it's old-school puzzle/explorer feet and some ideas that wouldn't fit a traditional TR game will be used here in Guardian instead. I've got my fingers crossed.

Hmm. Not really appealing to me much.

Looking for a new gaming podcast to listen to? LOOK NO FURTHER!

Hope they're not making her American..

There was a time that I wouldn't have given a fuck about a new Tomb Raider. However, after the frankly brilliant Guardian of Light I'm going to be keeping a close eye on this.

If they can get anywhere near giving me that same sense of wonder as the very first TR then I'll be a happy man.
