I stayed up too late last night and managed two hours today from 1300-1500 when I had an empty flat :).

Well it is if youve got a bloody pre school committee meeting to go to. By the time I get back it'll be beddy-bies...

Why it's great, and why it sucks.
I played three hours and have to say I'm 50/50 on this. It's pretty and all but they love to snatch away all the control from you don't they?

As the closing comment says it's great when it lets you play it, half the time it plays itself though.

Honestly gamers can be moaning fuckers sometimes, The game is fantastic. If anyone is sitting on the fence regarding a purchase. Stop reading forums and go by a copy of the game you will not be disappointed!

This really is stunning on Ultra settings which is a nice change from the usual lazy ports. Some of Laras deaths are brutal :(.

After reading all those comments I really want this game now. Saving my pennies for Bioshock though :(. It's definitely high on my to get list. For those playing on the Xbox is there much in the way of screen tearing / frame rate drops?

Neither. Just buy tr from 2games.com for 29.99 then trade it in two weeks for 20 or more against bioshock. Simples. :)

This is by far the best Tomb Raider of them all for me. Can't stop playing it and considering i'm always flitting from one game to the next that's saying something. God knows what happened at Crystal Dynamics but this is stellar work.

    @BillCityfingers

Its looked pretty nice on the xbox this evening no real issues with quality, put in about 3 hours worth and thoroughly enjoyed every moment.

Maybe a little too much QTE in those opening hours if I've got to nitpick but I can ignore it given the look and atmosphere.

I'm pretty impressed by the voice acting and story too so far, pretty well done and a worthy successor to my mind.

The enthusiasm in this thread made me give it a go; Pretty good, isn't it? Glad to be proved wrong...

Has anybody had a really weird glitch on the PC with rivers (or possibly a particular river near the start) being displayed on top of foreground objects? Tried sodding around with the reflection settings but that doesn't do anything.

Absolutely loving this game. I just didnt expect it to be so polished.

It's going to be another late one tonight...

Had a quick go, it's got that Uncharted frustration going on but is good. Not liking the miserableness of it or the odd language that seems out of place.

The lara deaths are fine mind, same as previous games with comedy claret ala Prince of persia. PEGI really need to fix their ratings.

Can't say I'm blown away. Lots of change-hype for yet another (if you'll forgive me) nice rack. Bit gutless really given all the early character prototypes.

    Second-rate Uncharted.

In what way? I'm twelve hours in and 18 is definitely the correct rating.

I find (semi) open worlds so much more satisfying than the Uncharted style hopping from place to place linearity. It means you have the illusions of player freedom and build a familiarity that makes uncovering secrets actually feel like proper exploration. Really satisfying.

Just blasted through this on my day off. It's fucking good, haven't been this hooked on a game in a long while. And it looks absolutely mindblowingly gorgeous on Ultra settings on PC.

    Utterly. Hooked.

Lost track of time this evening (how the hell is it 2am!?) all down to this game. Picked up the rope and I'm scouring the earth for new routes through old locales.

Prefering the combat to Uncharted, by a long way (and I'm surprised to be writing that). Just put it off as the dust settles on a shanty-town. Game is glorious.

I will never forget playing the very first one of these on Playstation and probably on one of the first parts of the game and my now brother-in-law saying watch out for the big hammer. 'What hammer?' I said. Mush!! Hilarity.

Anything like that? If so, sold!!
