I'm oretty sure Romney's entire campaign has been a piece of performance art.

In addition to general flidiness he's also recently proclaimed that poor people can get health care from the ER, (which goes against so many things he's said in the past - natch) to he thinks the tax rate he pays is just fine, (then why is a central part of your plank to cut it to zero?) spray-tanning himself a deep Bohner orange before going on TV for a Latino TV show forum to claiming that his campaign should not be connected to his performance.

The man really is a joke. That he's still in the race as far as the popular vote is polled is sad. But also indicative of just how bad many Americans view things; with a compotent, less clown-show orientated candidate the Republicans would be looking at an easy victory. Now, they are looking at close to a landslide defeat in the presidential race, with serious problems in down-ticket races. Some predict the Dems will easily hold the Senate and thoughts about them taking the House are not being laughed at.

I'm pissed I have a training course to go to on the 6th as I will not be able to soak in as much election night lulz as I want.

If only someone could invent some sort of non-lethal weapon which police could be issued with for situations like this.

I'm starting to think that it must just be more fun to spray someone all over the wall. Unless you count tazering car crash victims, that one is hard to top.

I can't help feeling that there's such a feeling of fear amongst cops in the US that reacting this way is not only the default option... but internally it's probably considered the right option.

I dunno. As much as I don't want the guy to win, I think that ranks pretty low on the gaffes he's made. He was probably a bit stressed out after what happened, so I'm inclined to cut him some slack. It's hilarious and stupid , yes, but I think most people are lucky to not have cameras circling them 24/7, chronicling every stupid thing they say. He's made far worse errors.

If the update in ecureuil's link is to be believed, then the reporter who broke the story had to clarify that Romney was joking. And that, she thought it was so obvious that he was joking that she didn't have to mention it when she wrote the article.

Cause you know Romney, always a great joker. Remember that joke of how he'd have a better chance of winning the Presidency if he was Latino? Hilarious.

The thing that really worries me is that this is all incredibly reminiscent of GW's first campaign. The whole world laughed in union at this utter joke of a man who was clearly unfit to become president, and every word he said was greeted with laughter and incredulity at what an utter moron he was.

    And then he won.

He would've lost if Gore had accepted Clinton's help.

    Won by vote rigging, yes.

Even if we forget the whole recounting situation, at least Bush had a folk-sy charm to him. He's the kind of candidate a lot of voters would like to have a drink with, as they say. That undoubtedly helped him at both elections.

Romney, on the other hand, is like some weird robot.
