see i've tried to play oblivion 3 times. but i don't really know what i'm supposed to be doing in it. i get out that dungeon in the beginning, and then i just meander about until i turn it off. clearly i'm missing something,

The structure is pretty much the same as Fallout, I can't really see how you don't know what to do.
  • Deleted user 13 July 2009 22:43:53
It's the same game as Fallout except it's in a fantasy setting.

No no no - it will fell like the biggeest anticlimax ever - fantastic game but not to be done straight after FO3

Mass Effect - get your bearings and go to OB it will appear better

    (love them all equally)

No it doesn't, and as someone else pointed out going to Oblivion after Fallout is a bad idea. I just don't know how you didn't know what to do in oblivion when it's pretty much the same as Fallout.

I would recommend Mass Effect or the Orange Box. Both full of awesomeness.

Shitty combat? First-person melee in Oblivion is great. Real visceral stuff, at least against human NPCs. It's a bit too shallow to last for 50+ hours, but so is Fallout 3's combat.

    Baldur's Gate 2.

If it has to be 360 only then Mass Effect is a pretty good choice or any JRPG if you're into that sort of thing. There's a lack of really good RPGs on consoles this time around.

The combat in Oblivion is great, what you talkin' about crazy foo!

Battering huge beasties over the head with an axe > VATS.

Yeah. I loved how the physics engine worked in the combat in Oblivion. Tumbling back while you're blocking because someone smashes a hammer onto your shield just felt real. It's just Condemned that did that halfway convincingly as well.

Morowind if you can stand it - better than Oblivion by chalks

    /imagines TS3 on X360.....

I tried Morrowind on the PC last week and couldn't get it to run over 15 FPS. Same as I could get it running back when thats all my old PC could manage. Is the engine broken?

I presume you've exhausted all the Fallout 3 DLC as well as the main game? Because apart from Operation Anchorage (apparently), it's all pretty good stuff. I didn't download Anchorage cos it got bad reviews, but I've been happy with the rest so far.

Fallout 3 pisses all over Oblivion IMO, I adored FO3 but 7 hours of Oblivion and it's shitty combat bored me into ejecting it for good...

i read that as "my wife feels empty", but then again i am drunk. im going to suggest you try a critically acclaimed game of a similar genre, see how that works out for you.

Not played it, but a few on EG seem to rate Too Human, it is also dirt cheap.

"Duffman is thrusting in the direction of the problem! Oh, yeah!"
