Is this to give Arsenal an advantage? As not sure that'll help much, as Spurs don't play again until next weekend (they're not playing this weekend or midweek next week).

Ugh. Guess it was just too big an ask. I know it's almost certainly affected our league form, but I've loved being back in Europe. Hopefully we'll be back in 18 months.

Newcastle have done amazingly well to get that far. They must surely have been the lowest league position in the stage.

Tits. Happy with the way we played second half. Nice to see Ben Arfa back for the scum on sunday.

When we had Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Sissoko and Cabaye in midfield all together (at last) it was great to watch.

Here's hoping we now roll over the mackems and put on a push for the Top 10.

The damage was done in the first leg. We basically completely dominated them for the entire second half but as per usual we come up short up front. We need at least two forwards in the summer or we will be in even bigger trouble next season.

I agree that we need at least one more forward, but I think this season has been just as anomalous as last season.

So long as we don't see a complete exodus of players we should be Top 8 material. I don't think I'm being arrogant when I say that our squad is better than West Brom's (certainly once you factor out Lukaku), Swansea's and Fulham's.

That's it though. From within a couple of points of Champions League last season to no Europe at all now next season I think it'll be a tough ask to keep our top players if I'm honest. I'd be very very surprised if we don't lose two or three of our starters.

In addition to that, all this talk of us going after players like Aubameyang probably needs revisiting. A lot of work needs to be done to attract anybody of that calibre now. Surely Cabaye is running out of people in his phonebook to call!

I'm already consigned to losing Coloccini, so after that worst case is probably losing Cabaye and Ben Arfa. With the 25 million (I'd hope more) we'd raise from their sale I'd be confident we would buy smartly.

Of all our signings of the last 3 years, the only two I don't rate are Obertan and Anita (who I do like, but is probably a bit too small to challenge in EPL midfields). That's excluding the freebies like Amalfitano of course.

Edit: It's a shame we're even discussing this, as I think it's safe to say we would've caned the first half of the season if we had actually signed Debuchy and others in the Summer, as we should have done. Ah well.

Anyway, I hear Spurs are still playing. I hope they lose, just out of sheer spite at being knocked out ourselves.

Spurs will win this. They're on their feet but Basel can't find the finishing touch

    What was THAT? Spurs out.

The Resident Evil films. I'm one of the reasons they keep making them.

Bad luck Spurs, very entertaining European campaign - injuries and lack of striking options cost them.

Basel were the better team over the two legs. Sad to see it end on a shootout for Spurs, though.

So Chelsea are again our best team in Europe? How depressing.
