Youíre chatting away to someone, finding common ground, learning that youíre both gamers, and then it starts to dawn on you that they almost certainly post hereÖ

What do you do? Itís happened to me a few times now, and although on those occasions itís turned out to be people who donít post much and arenít really regs, itís still weird. Iím never quite sure how to broach it all.

Or: "Would you be disgusted if your daughter brought home someone from EG when she's old enough to date"?

It's a thought I had the other day along with "How the hell am I ever going to convince my daughter that I'm not really this much of a fucking dick in 'normal' life" ?

    :)

It's happened to me a few times - only time it was a problem was when one of them saw a post I'd made rambling on about the general futility of modern life and they went all armchair psychiatrist on me.

No, thinking is not a sign of depression, you plonker.

Happened with one of my friends at uni. Not that weird though, we're both gamers and we both use the internet.

Never happened to me, although I did live in a weird place so I figured other than the two mates who I'd introduced to the place probably not many other toonsers posted here.

Then I left and they all came out; seems there's about five people from Aberdeen who posts fairly regularly and a few more who do so less often. I've probably passed some on the street at one point.

I think I'm safe from the OP's dilemma now.

    Well no, I don't mean that's what's weird.

What's weird is meeting someone and then finding that you've already formed an opinion on them, and possibly even argued with them or got on or whatever.

Put it this, you're out on a Saturday night, maye at a hip hop gig, you're chatting to some bloke, and then you discover it's in fact ME. Would be pretty weird no? :)

I always drop little hints about EG when I discover someone is a gamer. But it doesn't usually work.

At this point I would either run away crying or start frantically bumming you.

Whenever I go into Argos, I always keep my eyes peeled for a slightly unhinged-looking Bangladeshi man who stinks of shit.

I live in fear whenever I phone IT that they'll know who I am...

LB, you really are a massive geek.

Chances are that hundreds of people nearly met kalel IRL but didn't because he wasn't on an upward slope so they couldn't see him.

I'm pretty certain my GF has frequented here but I daren't bring it up lest she asks for my ID and finds out what a Blanker I am.

Interestingly, I discovered that one of our IT bods has registered here (same IP as me), but have never worked out if he joined to see why I was here so much or if it was pure coincidence.

I was in London once and I a funny feeling people around me were from Eurogamer. They weren't, but I kept getting an odd sense they were, weird.

Every single time I see someone using a laptop in a pub, I think they're on EG.

A certain MMO and LAN party reality crossover still weirds me out when I think about it.

    This space left intentionally blank.
