I'll have a look for this.

Chris Hitchens essay about his visit to North Korea was very interesting (I know Hitch is a bit polarising).

Someone earlier in the thread mentioned a book on North Korea written by a British diplomat? Anyone have the name for that?

Also, I remember reading an extract from a book written by a North Korean who was raised in a North Korean prison/labour camp. He escaped knowing his parents would be killed - anyone know the name of this? It was a fasinating story.
The one by the British diplomat is called 'Only beautiful please'. Really interesting. I have also read Nothing to Envy & Escape from camp 14. All depressing in there own way.

I stand corrected about atomic blasts on the Richter scale.

    Linky.

    Second table down. Fascinating stuff.

It's false advertising. Imagine you end up having kids with someone who has had facial surgery. You have no idea if your off spring will look like the elephant man.

    30 looks like Hitler.

If those statistics are true, then it doesn't surprise me; there were adverts for plastic surgery all over South Korea during my recent visit. And it's not just K-Pop that inspires the masses; every single advertisement, whether it's for a food product or travel agencies or Samsung electronic had a stunning young woman posing with the item.

That's just weird. The kids look fine, but they look like they're adopted.

Good it is. They will either *test* a missile, or attempt to hit a country. Wednesday is supposed to reveal all.

Half surprised they haven't tried to sink one of those anti-missile ships.

I suspect Apple is supporting NK because they want to get rid of Samsung.

edit: and actually, in the three first weeks of NK's new threatening, Apple's shares rose by about 8%, against their general downwards trend.

They're going down again now, so probably there'll be no war.

The American stealth bombers will be no match for those dogs and pistols.

The flames on one of those obstacles were a bit unnecessary. Put them on the inside if you want to give the dogs a challenge.

I'm concerned about their standard of gun safety. You should not use a pistol as a replacement for your finger to point at stuff.

    @PearOfAnguish
I for one welcome a complete lack of gun safety on the North Korean side.

If it wasn't so serious it would be hilarious.

On second thoughts, it is still hilarious.

With our tiny pistols we shall defeat the capitalist pigs!

What are they planning on doing with those dogs anyway? Aren't military canines used for either guarding or bomb sniffing, surely they can't be much use for attacking the enemy. The Russians tried training anti-tank dogs in WW2 without much success.

They wouldá have better luck setting pigs on fire and sending them at the enemy.
