    Had a very mushroomy but pretty nice pasta thing, was feeling pretty good until the girlfriend's mum rang up to tell us how great her roast lamb was that they'd all just eaten.

    Shortcrust steak pie with the veggies. Slightly underdone on the biggest new potatoes, so it was a lucky dip. A lot of gravy helped.

    Not quite winter, but it's getting breezy for sure.

    I had homemade tagliatelle tonight (as in the fresh stuff rather than the dried packet pasta, although admittedly I didn't make it myself) with a grilled mix of asparragus and cherry tomatoes in seasoned olive oil topped with an emmental and parmesan based white sauce and some more parmesan flakes. It was criminally good.

    I do feel like I'll have to go running for three hours tomorrow to burn off the calories though :/

    Crispy pork belly from this recipe.
    Yep, just the meat, no veg or rice.
    For afters I had an apple and some slices of cheddar.

    Interesting way of cooking belly pork. I'll try boiling them then frying them, with a lid, as the usual way I do it just frying them or putting them in the oven doesn't seem perfect, and takes ages.

    I'm going to try a chicken roast today with white wine sauce, tata's and Herby bread sauce. Never actually done a roast chicken before.

    And then polish it off with the rest of the wine I reckon

    Don't forget to let the chicken rest after cooking; you'll get a much better result. I generally leave it about 20 mins under foil before carving.

    During which you can be making gravy from the crusty bits left in the roasting tin; which ĽalsoĽ has an added benefit of cleaning the tray up so it's less shitty when washing up.
