Just noticed this whilst on their front page.

Some nobody talks about going a year without sex

The article is bad enough, then you realise it's to promote an entire book abut this incredibly boring premise. Why would anyone care about her sex life?

The things some people get paid for...

Slagging off the guardian automatically makes you a daily mail scumbag.

    How do I?

Seems to be shared by just about all of the comments on there too.

It's incredibly dull all right, but a "new low"? It's just as bad as any other bit of worthless fluff the papers stick in* the Woman's pull-out* section.

I do agree, can't believe would publish an article like this. Maybe the editor has some connection to this book, or maybe the parent company has some deal with the publisher.

To be fair I don't tend to read them :)

Poor choice of thread title perhaps but there was a time I, dare I say it, expected more from the paper? Clearly this article is not for me - but who is it for then? Who honestly wants to read a book about some woman not getting any? I wouldn't pay to read a book about someone who was always getting some, never mind none at all.

Is one of the couple a Graun staffer? I'm sure they had a blog on their comment site about this ages ago.

The Guardian is probably the best newspaper out there. Their website is also good for wasting time in work reading Charlie Brooker :)

Her lack of a sex life is as boring as you'd imagine it to be.
"So I went on a date with this guy and sent him home with a kiss on the cheek - ooh I'm so independent and counter-cultural. Also, I no longer wax or shave - my body is a temple where the weeds grow wild and I feel liberated!"
    Couldn't be any duller.

This kind of stuff appears on all the broadsheets sometimes. It sells papers, and in a climate where people don't pay for their news, going online instead, even the high-brow papers will do this sometimes.

Keep in mind the Guardian also provides a decent comments section (Simon Jenkins, Polly Toynbee et al) and a massive selection of decent podcasts. Give them a break!

A year without sex. That would probably put her in the lower percentile of the EG abstinenve average.

I'm a big fan of the Guardian, largely for the supplements - Sport, Media, Technology, Film, Money, everything Charlie Brooker and the peerless Guide on Saturdays. The Tech section has some poorly researched articles though, admittedly.

Never, evah! read anything politics related - someone had to point out to me that it was, until recently, very pro-Gordon Brown apparently - nothing bores me more. In fact, the only stuff I read in the main paper tends to be world news/geography related.
