    Hi All

Just to let you know the SF IV benchmarking utility is out.

To see how it runs on your system click on this link as it contains a link to the download.

    http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/48255/Street-Fighter-IV-PC-Benchmarker-Released

EDIT - link is quite slow so may be better grabbing it from another site - I have installed it and it runs very well.

No worries fella - think I scored about 7900 at 1440 x 900 with everything on max.

Seems like a good port. I get a solid 60fps with everything on highest and 8xAA at 1440x900. It looks absoloutely fantastic I must say.

Works great for me. Got an average of 80 fps with all settings on high and at 1440*900 res. I only hope my Dreamcast Joystick works with this.

    Tiny monitors or laptops?
  • Deleted user 15 June 2009 18:16:06
It should work with any USB joystick compatible with your computer, but they've not really said for sure. I just can't imagine this not being the case, though.

    1440 X 900 is the usual res of a 19'' widescreen.
That would have to be one giant fucking laptop.

When it comes to Capcom PC ports, yeah, it's still a shocker.

Sweet, 1920x1080, 8xAA, 16xAF, everything maxed out and it never drops below 60FPS. Looks lovely too. This is on a q6600 and 4870.

Is performance affected by using the shaders? Or are they not included?

/should just download the thing himself

Plenty of 14-15 inch laptops have 1440x900 displays. Hell, my own laptop is a 13" one and it has a 1600x900 option if you have it order made.

Small monitor then. I've owned 15" cheap laptops with 1680x1050 res, thought it was the norm tbh.

Didn't seem to make any difference to me.

The shaders were a bit pants to be honest.

Looks nice, never drops a frame on max settings.

Shame I am not interested in the game at all. \o/

19'' really isn't a small monitor and 1440 X 900 is a fairly standard native res in that size. Some even run 1366 X 768.

I'd LOVE to know what "cheap" laptop you had that ran 1680x1050. My 17'' Amilo only runs something like 1200 X 900 native.

Devil May Cry 4 also performed very well even on modest machines, and had the same kind of benchmarking tool released prior to the game.

FT's comment is amusing given how many console to PC ports still end up running like crap e.g. Assassin's Creed and GTA 4.

Assassin's Creed? That ran like a dream on my PC. Hated the game, but performance was awesome.

    edit:
Actually, wait. Last time I played it, I had my new graphics card. I remember I had toned the settings (or AA somewhat) originally, but it certainly wasn't a performance disaster like GTA.

From what I read, it sounded like AC wouldn't have performed nearly as well on my modest E6420 @ 2.13GHz, 320MB 8800 GTS system as Devil May Cry 4. This article says it can still be limited even with a 3.0GHz processor.

That's with v-sync off naturally. Of course, you'd expect it to run well on a system like that at that kind of resolution really.

Some of the scores over at NeoGAF are ridiculous. One guy had it running at something like 600fps. o_O

Running like crap might be a bit harsh for AC (and a bit soft for GTA) but the general point is that a lot of games that were designed for the three year old, 512 MB of RAM console systems don't run that well on the PC.

Capcom really deserve a lot of praise for the 180 they've done with their PC games. Now I'm just waiting for the RE 5 release date & benchmark to be announced. Hopefully I'll be able to play it co-op with some EG guys.

It really is a game that needs to run super smooth and it appears they've achieved that.
