Caked my TV in sploodge whilst watching the trailer, demonstration of the game itself looked retarded though.

I used to love driving along costal roads in a shinning Ferrari before piling it into a volvo at 200 mph.

Glad to see Criterion going back to this.

Just watched the trailer. Epic.

Though I'd like to see a day when we can get graphics like that. :D

Ok, NFS Hot Pursuit being done by Criterion is pretty much a dream come true for someone like me and that trailer and accompanying blurb just sent my anticipation off the chart, November can't come quick enough.

Love the focus on those coastla and forest drives.
Love the focus on multiplayer and team based play.
Hopefully they can retain the damage model on the licensed cars.

Is anyone hosting the demonstration video? All I can find is the pre-rendered chase trailer which, despite being awesome, doesn't show any in-game action...

This should benefit on the consoles by conforming to Criterion's stated preference for 60fps.

Could be great!

Definitely room for improvement gameplay-wise but it was a poor demo by the tits on stage. Need to vary the gameplay, routes and modes to get the most out of the game.

Should have a good campaign mode and enough online action to keep NFS and Burnout fans entertained for a while.

More stuff on Autolog at Gamescon followed by a race.

The sense of speed is good and there's much greater scale to the scenery. Though I hope you can turn off those roadblock/spike/etc ahead snap aways, they always break my concentration and I end up crashing.

Also Limited Edition details

Also also can a mod change the title

edit: cheers :)

I think part of the problem with this is the long country roads you'll be racing on.

It looks great! Could do without pausing the action to show police action though.

Love the subtle day/night change.

Colour me worried tbh.

Open world environments seem like the big evolutionary step that racing games have to take.

Only thing is in some cases it hinders one's enjoyment. A racing game is no place for a map in my opinion and there are few things more frustrating than taking the wrong turn in such a title. Too much going in games like Burnout Paradise as well, which put me right off it.

Give me a well structured racer that is all about the racing over an open world, overly large, confusing map.

That said it looks pretty simple in that Gamescom gameplay vid.

360p does not come close to doing it justice mind.

It looked like there were glowing arrow walls on the major junctions to keep you in the race, with smaller off roads open for shortcuts.

this looks very interesting indeed, and as Criterion's involved means an instabuy for me. i like the idea of a straight road race tbh. its been a long time since i've played a driving game like that. most driving games have been circuit based. yawn! (and BoP was to open for my liking tbah)

Just had a quick read of the EG preview.

One paragraph puts my mind at ease.

"It's very different to Paradise City. We don't want people to worry about navigating when they're driving at 250mph. This is a faster game than Burnout. The cars actually go faster," adds Craig Sullivan. "We want you to focus on how you're driving down the road. Are you slipstreaming this guy, how am I taking the next corner, how am I going to drift around the next corner that's been designed to feel cool just to drift around..."

That and the vid Ged linked to have near enough won me over.

Except it's then hidden behind power-ups. I'm not convinced it's the pure driving experience it should be - Burnout did that better, imo.

That actually looks like a backwards step to me from Most wanted. It appears to take place on entirely linear tracks so its just a matter of going faster than the pursuer rather than as in Most wanted where you would suddenly nip down a side street to lose a pursuer or pull a quick J-turn and go back the other way.

The open world in Most wanted was absolutely fine as you did not really get wrong route frustration as when the objective is just to lose the pursuer there is no wrong route. If I remember correctly they also closed off side roads in the actual races so you had no issues with getting a wrong route while racing screwing up your race.

I actually really rated Most wanted and the only thing that really took the shine off of it was the very poor frame rate. The actual game design was very solid.

Is this 60fps?

I mean, it is Criterion and it should be a given. but I'm just checking.
