Registered 9 years agoAaah so it's a nod in the UK.
I was wondering as it's easy enough to wave a passing fellow biker on the continent, you drive on the right, oncoming traffic is on your left, so you can lift your left hand for a wave.
With you lot driving on the left, you'd need to lift your right hand to wave and let go of the accelerator. Haven't seen much nodding here. Proper waving. And so far I'd say 90% of people do it.

Registered 5 years agoI rode bikes for a couple of years mostly for commuting. Had a Honda CBR125R and a Suzuki SV650S.
Then i got some money together, bought a Ford Fiesta, learned how to drive, passed my test and sold the SV (no one wants to buy the CBR
). I now have a rather nice Hyundai Coupe and you wouldn't get me back on a bike for love nor money.
Horrible, dangerous, uncomfortable and impractical things. Meh to biking i say! -

You nod to Harley's? You know when I used to nod when I was younger I always found cutom bike riders the worst for returning nods. They always seemed too preoccupied with checking out what they look like in their mirrors to my eye.ScoutTech wrote:

I nod to just about everyone, scooters don't count unless I want to confuse them. Always a nod. I don't bother if I over take them, unless it is a thank you nod, or if I get overtaken. Don't on motorways though for obvious reasons.
Oh and BMW riders I also found were likely to be nod offenders. -

Registered 8 years agoI am probably going to sell my current bike soon so if anyone is interested its one of the below.
http://www.gulum.net/motor/resimler/KTM_SMR_950-aa_2007_06_1024x768.jpg
Value wise I think its around £4500. 0-60 time is 3.4 seconds and top speed is entirely about if you are strong enough to hang on to it past 120 Mph. In theory it will do 140 Mph. -

Registered 9 years agoLast weekend I saw a guy being stretchered into an ambulance, his very nice looking bike smashed to all fuck all over the road. Looked like an old guy in a car had pulled out of a junction and the bike has gone into and over the bonnet. Not pretty, not pretty at all. But yeah, enjoy yourselves you crazy fuckers! -

Actually for the reputation the bike has I find it fairly relaxed as it has lots of torque so if you want to just pootle along its really easy for that as you barely have to change gear. If you want to go fast of course it does that pretty well too.
I actually think its the best bike I have ever had for UK roads as it's superb on poor road surfaces. You can pretty much ride flat out on roads sports bikes have really trouble on as it just absorbs pot holes like they are not there.

Yeah, you need to be extra careful and even then if someone just pulls in front of you there's little you can do.

So far one person nearly ran me off the road. I started at the green light and he came from a merging lane, straight into mine.
I had to brake and I pressed my "start engine" button in anger* but I don't think he ever realised I was there.
* only had the thing 2/3 weeks at that point and never used the horn, so in a panic I hit the wrong button. Horn is on the left side of the handlebars, start engine on the right side.
