    Hi folks,

I've been posting about this case over on NeoGAF since what seems like forever. Thought I would pop in and say hello (I'm sure I used to have a Eurogamer account years ago but I seem to have lost it somehow). Looks like we are getting close to the endgame on the EA vs Edge Games case - that won't necessarily be the end of the whole of everything EDGE because there are all sorts of bits and pieces left over in the UK and Germany, but at least it will be a start.

I'm going to keep the detailed stuff going on GAF, but will pop in here from time to time to touch base with you lot.

    phisheep

EDIT: If I'm in the wrong thread, could some kind soul tell me where I should be?

This is probably the best thread for all things EDGE, so you've picked the right place. If you're keeping the detailed stuff on GAF, could you share a link please? I quite like reading up on this business. Cheers :)

The most up-to-date GAF thread is this one.

I keep trying to keep the OP current, but things have been moving pretty quickly recently so it isn't really current. But you'll be able to catch up with the state of play of the court case by looking at recent posts, as I try to recap where I think it's necessary.

    Good luck!

Nice one that man, been keeping my eye on ChaosEdge but had forgotten all about the threads over on GAF. Cheers for the heads up, thread gives me something to get good and riled up about about before bed.

Excellent work phisheep, just noticed your background post, does an excellent job of explaining the various cases. Kudos, that man.

I've just posted a non-update on GAF, speculating about what might happen in the upcoming judgment in the US Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) here. Have no idea how long the TTAB will take to reach a ruling, but I guess at the earliest it'll be another month.

    He's still at it.

He's updated his websites to state that Edge is still TM and Copyright 2012, Edge Games.

And it looks like he's started picking on hardware companies as well.

I've long been of the opinion that both Langdell and Jack Thompson are seriously not right in the head and could probably do with some intervention to help them.

Tim Langdell's been a massive, massive dick for decades. There are plenty of Spectrum developers who can tell you stories about not getting paid or getting similarly screwed over by him and that was thirty years ago. I can't believe he's not done time yet.

When is he going to sue U2? That's what I want to know.

It's only a matter of time before he starts suing inanimate objects that happen to have EDGEs.

Sure I heard he'd actually already pursued that road.

The guy has lost all of his trademarks. Surely this places him, at best, in contempt of court and at worst guilty of fraud?

They haven't been removed from him yet. He's still contesting it. Or contesting everything to be more accurate. The right of the Trademark body to remove them, the right of the court to order removal, the decision reached by the court etc etc.

EA/Future Publishing are now petitioning to have his appeals thrown out. And he's apparently straying toward "vexatious litigant" territory.

Things are hotting up nicely now. Three motions in four days, which must be kind of a record for this case.

    Check this out.

(yawn) I know it has been a bit tedious recently guys. But at long last Langdell has actually lost one his trademarks (though not by the means I expected). Look here for the latest: http://tinyurl.com/bgwespd

He really is a gobshite. It usually takes huge companies and boardrooms full of people diluting the sense of responsibility to create this level of asshattery.

    My money's on sociopathy.

You really start to lose all faith in humanity and nature when some amazingly good people die from horrific and painful diseases, while vermin like Langdell got off scot-free.

There's still time though I guess...
