Eg discriminates against fat fingers.Pissy pants.

I think if we were going to do a mobile version of the site (and it has been on our backburner for many moons), it wouldn't be an iPhone-specific version. If there's any mobile browser that doesn't really require much pandering to, it's Mobile Safari. We will likely be doing a stripped down generic mobile version at some point though, if only to make the pages a bit more lightweight.

I hear your pain, I really do, it's just not so super-important that it leaps to the top of our schedules unfortunately. It's something I'd personally love to get out of the door though. -

Registered 8 years agoI hope this happens sooner rather than later. I read an article about how mobile web traffic on Orange has doubled over the past year - I'm sure the other networks are experiencing a similar increase. This is probably due to greater transparency when it comes to how much people are going to be billed for using it.
Also a mobile specific version opens up other advertising revenue opportunities. I saw a great mobile campaign the other day for the Wii. -

EG on a phone is an absolute ballache due ot the sheer amount of crap you have to download on a mobile connection.

That's why a mobile specific version is such a great idea. It would contain all the content of the web version but formated to make it infinitely easier to navigate on a 2 inch screen.

Problem solved. The views expressed above do not necessarily represent every Badger, everywhere. Or even THIS Badger, always.

That was a reaaaaaaaally long time ago, in the WAP dark-ages. I'd imagine it would be a darn sight more useful now.

Theres no point in having mobile versions for the iPhone, especially since the lack of flash removes the most bandwidth sucking features.
Mobile versions are shit by definition.---------------------------------------------------------

So don't use it, and by god, don't have the site autodetect and push a mobile version on you.

If you make it available on m.eurogamer.net then anyone who wants the low tech version can go there, and anyone who enjoys waiting 20 minutes for a page to load over GPRS can go to the main site.London open taekwondo champion
