Sleazy PR stunt? Maybe. Making a 109 year old lady happy? Absolutely. I don't see a problem with it personally.

    otto sucks.

    "Oh dear otto"?

So some intern in the Palace communications office sifts through the nutter file to look for a likely candidate, finds some batty old nutter's letter, drafts a memo to her boss saying "hey good PR opportunity for the princeling, let's put him up to it and call a couple of pet journos to be on the spot, the window lickers will lap it up."

Or do you think the Queen got on the phone to her grandson to ask him to make amends for her heinous crime of not getting a new outfit?

Why do you hate old ladies and why don't you want them to be happy?

This is it, in a nutshell. I don't care for the royals any more now than I did before this story, but for someone that did care about them, it's nice that they've reciprocated.

    otto sucks.

    Indeed.

Interesting to put this in perspective against all the MP expense-ageddon, and this old lady was worried that the Queen wasn't spending enough money (some of it from the taxpayer)

Well I take it all back. I applaud this selfless and spontaneous gesture on the part of the heir to the throne and I'm sure the presence of photographers and journalists was purely coincidental. What a pity that the press aren't there to cover all his many other selfless acts of kindness to bewildered pensioners!

Fair play to him. Yeah it's PR but it's not like he has to do anything to get the jewels.

Does it matter what the motive is and the fact that it's PR? It's made an old dear happy. I really can't see a problem with it.

Exactly, everything they do and stand for is a public relations matter now, since they do fuck all else nowadays. May as well take it to its logical conclusion and just say they're fucking publicity whores of the worst kind, they've done even less than some bint on britain's got talent to be where they are today.

Otto you old cynic. It may be a PR stunt, but it's a harmless PR stunt, and has made an old lady very happy.
