I'm very tempted to buy an NC10, does anyone else have one? I know a couple of people that have them and swear by them but wondered if anyone has had any bad experiences?

I only really want it for internet, email, Office and watching movies (from the hard drive) both on the device and hooked up to the tv (is this possible????)

Theyre great.. the best of its generation of netbooks. Theres a few more out since its release with longer battery lifes and better keyboards. Ofcourse, all of them have the same specs pretty much.

Personally i'm gonna have a look at the New Asus 1008HA. Out in a week or two.

Any ideas on cost and battery life of the 1008HA? They were 2 of the factors that drew me to the NC10

Think the NC10 goes for between 310-340 these days. AFAIK, 1008HA will be going for between 350-80. So about 50 in the difference.

Dunno about battery life yet. I'm waiting for reviews to surface. Netbook battery lifes have increased lately though.. so I reckon you'll be getting around the same as the NC10, which had great battery life when it came out. Its not a changeable battery though. Like the Macbook Air it'll be non-replacable.

The 1000HE is 310 on Ebuyer. The Ars Technica forums seems to recommend this over the NC10 now; haz teh uber battery life, innit.

Yeah 9hrs or so on the 1000HE.

It all depends on what you want. 6-7hrs on the 1008HA and a decent review and I'll probably pick one up.

Yup got the NC10 (love it), recommend the cheap memory upgrade for it via Crucial. And also get hold of a VGA-VGA cable for hooking up to telly goodness* And a 3.5 audio to RCA/3.5 lead. Also get a nice wireless bluetooth mouse as well.

*If your TV has a VGA port!

Give yourself 5 or gig, you're worth it.

another +1 to the Samsung NC10... all kinds of awesomeness.. battery life, screen, speeds not that bad, stick more RAM in it and you're away.

No bigger than most hardback books and pretty light make it really easy to actually move about with.

I just hate the trackpad... I really should get a BT mouse

I got a white one this week. Very happy so far.

Got the 2gb memory upgrade, slimline ext cd drive and bluetooth mouse.

Got a 16gb SDHC card somewhere that I'll keep in it (when I find it).

Only used it for web and email so far. Also put word and excel on it which work fine, allowing for the screen size for large spreadsheets.

I've got one, love it. Does the extra RAM help video playback ? I suspect not, but Itunes video only just about runs. Stupid resource hungry rubbish.

S'pose it depends what quality you're talking about. I've got the maximum in mine and not experienced any slowdowns. For 20 you've got nothing to lose really.

I've got one. Solid laptop but a real gripe that is sucks for flash video. Just ordered some extra RAM, I'll let you know if it helps in a few days.

    Cheers mrpon :)

Samsung N110 review up too. Another 9/10.

Pretty much the same as the NC10, with an extended battery and other tiny bits and pieces. Still now Draft-N though.

If you only plan on using windows xp , is there any point in getting 2gigs of ram?
In task manager i never get near to using the 1 gig, so i presume it would be pointless?

I'm guessing since there is no mention anywhere it's still a 1024x600 and therefore fucking useless?
