Does anyone know how the regions are separated?

My friends' son wants to take one back to India - will a U.K model work over there? (downloads etc)

Games designed for the DSi could potentially be region locked but there aren't any yet.

A map is like comparing velocity and speed.

Bit of a bump, I have a few DS games that I bought in Australia, so they are not PAL iirc, I gave my DS lite to the gf but am thinking of a DSi, will the UK DSi run them? In other words it is region free right?

    Carts are region free.

    Australia is PAL anyway though.

All DS games are region free and always will be and play on any DS or DSi. Downloadable DSi games are region locked, like WiiWare, and not yet released retail DSi only games are said to be region locked, but nobody can say for sure until one is released.

May I ask a stupid question: If I buy an American DSi it seems I can play UK carts, but how do I buy US DSi store games (I don't have a credit card by the way)?

I lurk. If I've spoken to you, I'm either impassioned, or drunk.

Check ebay - there will probably be people selling Nintendo point card codes. Expect to be charged out the arse for them, though.

Also watch out - UK DSi-enhanced or DSi-only cards will not work in a US machine.

Are they any in existence yet?
