The vehicle one is probably an anagram of WALES plus the letter D, plus one extra letter.

Although I can't think of a vehicle to fit those letters.

It's an acrostic, so Crocodile (if indeed that is the word) is the answer you have to find by completing all the other clues.

CRAWL is as close as I can get, which would make some sort of sense if the word 'lingerers' wasn't in the clue, ie CRAW from 'front' and L behind. Bit of a stretch though.
