    :)

I'm seriously tempted to buy a PSP for it. Trouble is there are no other games that interest me on the PSP. And the thing is a bit expensive for what it is.

Yeah, you download as many levels as you want (the stats get uploaded once you connect to the PSN again) and upload your own levels or send them directly to your friends, as far as I know.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Shame you don't have a PSP - there are some great games, and they tend to be about a tenner now (well on UMD anyway). A new PSP 2000/3000 should cost you about £100.

Can you see I'm trying to tempt you? :)

    :D

Of course if the create mode is as useable as on the PS3 version it wouldn't even matter if there are any other games. I have hardly played another game on PS3 in the past 12 month.

There appears to be some controversy in the US about the fact that LBP has missed its launch on the US PlayStation Store due to some unforseen technical problems.

I wonder what those problems are and if the PSN release will still go ahead for those of us in other territories. I guess we'll find out very soon.

The UMD is already in stores where I live but I'm planning on buying it from the PS Store for the convenience and efficiency of a download.

Hope it appears on the EU store on Friday, I'll deffo be buying it. If it doesn't appear, I think I can live without it for a little while - NSMB Wii will be satisfying my platforming needs from Friday \o/
  • Deleted user 18 November 2009 22:39:08
So how long is the story mode? 5 hours?

Having played and finished it the length of the single player depends on how good you are at platformers, you should get through it in under 8 hours easily. Without multiplayer there's not much to sustain your interest afterwards apart from the level creator.

There should be a few decent user made levels by now. Jackofcourse, who makes good levels in the PS3 version, already has a published some levels I think. Have a look, they might be good.

The US delayed release does not bode well for European fans. Still hopeful though.

Anyone bought this from the PS Store? How does it perform running from the memory stick.

I'm trying to decide whether it's worth filling 1.3gb of my memory stick or whether I should settle for the not-quite-so-handy UMD version.

This should be waiting for me when I get home :D

It's just gonna be tough extracting the GT UMD and replacing it with this.

Plays perfectly well. No problems at all.

The only downside was that it took me 80 minutes to download (bandwidth cap had probably kicked in on my ISP from both Firmware downloads)

    And 30 minutes to install.

I wish I'd bought this instead of the non-working Assassins Creed. I was of 2 minds a the time, flitting between the 2!

I do love LBP, it's like a digital Lego set. I still want this a whole lot, and I never used to play online anyway, except of course browsing some of the awesome levels.

I'd kick the living daylights out of the producers of Tipping Point - Ghandi

There is an update available for this by the way. FIxes some physics stuff in the create mode and others minor issues apparently. Link

Sorry for posting so many links to the website I write for. :)

    @Syrok: Heh - no worries.

So they've effectively patched LBP PSP on release...? Never seen a PSP game patched before, but at least there's an explanation as to how to do it on your lovely site

Edit: Just created a new thread in the LBP Level Makers Group for you to recommend decent user created levels (including your own).

Been playing LBP this afternoon. It's chuffing marvellous. Sony Cambridge have done a terrific job of distilling all that was great about the PS3 version in to the PSP edition. Definitely in my top 5 games of the year.

Simple question for those who have played both games - which version is better overall? I'm really tempted to download this, but I'm wondering if it would just be better to get a cheapo copy of the PS3 version. Which one has more content + better story mode levels?

I'd go for the PS3 version over the PSP especially given all the existing free content, user levels etc that already exist for the PS3 version

But they're both as good as each other regarding the gameplay, story etc

Not played the PSP version yet, but my understanding is that it's a slimmed down version compared to its PS3 big brother. It's been tweaked slightly to better suit the PSP screen and controls, but I'd suspect that the PS3 version has more content (certainly user generated levels).

Story mode levels in the original LBP are excellent - really setting a high standard. MGS DLC is also a worthy purchase.

I cannot imagine you would like one and not the other, so perhaps if you can get a cheap copy of LBP PS3, it might be worth giving that a go...?

    Edit: Shopto.net have LBP PS3 for £12.79

LBP PSP's great but I'd always go for the PS3 version first.

This is ace, brilliantly suited to the PSP. Nice high limit to how many levels you can save too - 250.

If you're only buying one though, the PS3 version is a clear winner.

    /loves both

What's the music like in this? I thought the selection of quirky licensed tracks and original stuff used in the PS3 version was fantastic. Hopefully Sony Cambridge have made some similarly inspired choices for this one.

Syrok, I purchased this from the PS Store (and I LOVE it) but when I press triangle it already reads "version: 2.00".

Does this mean I already have the updated version? (I would check by selecting 'update' myself but I don't have wireless internet at home).

Anyway, I strongly recommend this to anyone on the fence - my favourite PSP game all year so far.
