    Hi guys,

As you know, we just had some unexpected downtime. This was partly due to our recent server move, which left us slightly exposed as we migrated our redundancy processes. But it should all be fixed now.

I'm really sorry about the downtime. It was unexpected and I want to thank our lead developer Mark Kennedy and Nick "grep" Loman for their late hours tonight fixing the site, which should be back to normal now.

There shouldn't be any lingering problems, but if you experience anything unusual, please message me and I will get to the bottom of it as soon as I can. And thanks for your patience!

    Tom.

P.S. Those of you who burn the midnight oil with us might want to do that on Sunday evening. When the clock ticks over to Monday, we have a couple of very cool previews, one of which has been trailed rather extensively. Would you kindly join us?

    P.P.S. God I'm obvious.

I really don't know what to do online after EG. Talk to actual people?

Very nice, Tom, I see what you did there.

Thank fuck EG is back online - the internet was all big and scary for me without at least one open tab with EG on it.

    From our tech guy:

Looks like big internet problems. The site was not down, but it does appear to have been unreachable from large chunks of the internet. Looking in to it.

Now, that site said it was only down for me when I checked earlier this morning.

We weren't down. There was a big drop in traffic of about 30 to 50% for 5 minutes or so. Which means an upstream network provider had problems and probably stopped saying "Eurogamer is over here."

If you're really bored take a look at the bottom graph and the tiny blip just before 9. That was an upstream provider being broken.

Enough with all this covering up nonsense! Someone in EG Towers tripped over the ethernet cable and pulled it out didn't they? ;)

DNS for various servers, like ox, weren't coming through last night for me (around midnight), and getting the CSS was also proving intermittent (I assume they're also on a different server). Mind you, my ISPs DNS servers aren't the fastest things at the best of times, so I assumed it was just at my end.

I didn't have a problem because I use OpenDNS IPs. I suggest you look it up and change them.

Yeah, I used to use the OpenNIC DNSes. Not sure why I stopped now.
