Nice, good to see them not trying to dodge this one, better in the long run to keep your customers happy after what already happened.. Now use better DVD drives and the 360 is a winner!
Doesn't help me - launch machine, so 6 months out of every warranty IIRC...
But he is unlucky as it will break... and now he doesn't get a replacement
Great news.... looks like my procrastination has finally paid off!
I've had 2 E74 errors it sucks
LOL their site seems to be crushed under the strain of requests!
My mum paid for a repair on my brother's 360 so a refund will be nice for her!
Already had RROD, so fingers crossed that'll keep it together.
/hears drive whirr
Or maybe not. It sounds WORSE than when they fixed it, has since it came back. Still, runs cooler.
Mine died this weekend with this problem -pissed off it b0rked, but good to know I won't have to fork out for it
Any chance of Sony doing something similar for the drive failures I wonder?
Before I ring them to ask, do you need to include the power cable with the return? I know it's a stupid question but I don't see any mention of it anywhere on return instructions, whilst it prompts me not to include the HDD or AV cable the power cord is simply ignored.
Don't include anything but the bare console.
Inquisitor, I'd assume not.|
When mine RRoD'ed they didn't require the power brick. However the repaired console's DVD was not working and I had to return it to the repair center as soon as I got it. On this second trip there, they specifically asked for the power cable to be included.
Status of my (single red light E73 - but claimed 3 red lights) xbox has now changed to repaired and returned to customer \o/ |
Only been gone a week. WIN.
I'm going through the online repair thing now for the E74. Did people get pre-paid boxes sent to them or did you box it yourself? From the email it's not 100% clear but it looks like I'm having to find a box and padding myself. Sigh.
I had to box it up myself. I then contacted UPS to arrange collection. I was very, very impressed with the whole process however. It took probably just over a week in total, from me contacting Microsoft to them returning the repaired 360. They included a months gold subscription too.
Thought so. Thanks for the quick reply.
They will send it back to you in a nice box with tailored foam padding though, so you'll be fine for next time.
My Falcon Elite just E74'd. Off to mailboxes etc.! I was reading that this is a problem with the scaler chip coming loose. I watch loads of video on my xbox and was wondering if that contributes to a short life? Or would it be the same as games? I also read that NXE is taxing the scaler.
The only thing that really makes a difference is hot / cold cycles. The more on and off it gets, the more likely it would be to die.
Sings to XBox:|
You're hot when you're cold, you're yes then you're no.... etcetera.
If you can read this, you don't need glasses.
I've got a Falcon Elite that's about 18 months old, and today the video and/or audio have started intermittently cutting out for a few seconds. At first it was very sporadic, but now it's doing it every 2 or 3 seconds - it's totally unusable now.|
Does this sound like the beginnings of an E74, or maybe a RROD? I can't see to find anyone else on the internets reporting the same problems ...
My Falcon Elite is about 20 months old. I was watching a movie and I noticed orange vertical dashed lines in the black areas of the movie. I then played a different movie and had the same vertical lines. I then put in Gears 2 and had huge pink and green blotches all over the screen. I turned it off and went to bed. In the morning when I got up I turned on the xbox and got the one red ring and the E74 screen.
I'm sending mine back tomorrow. UPS said to use the original 360 box but Microsofts email is telling me not. What did everyone else do?
Keep the box. MS don't want you to send it in the original box as then it's too obvious what's inside. The UPS guy should have a big bag thing to stick it in anyway, so just find any old box and tape it up.
